It was nice to meet some new people on Monday night. Welcome to PYPTUG.
News from the Python community:
PyCon2013 - less than 500 tickets left:
https://us.pycon.org/2013/(btw, anybody on the list going?)
Passing of Aaron Swartz - We talked a little bit about some of his projects, such as:
http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/2013/01/webpy-aaron-swartz.htmlWe talked some about the PyHack workshops, and an article tied to that will be published in a new publication to be released at FOSDEM 2013. As soon as the official launch happens, I'll send the link to the magazine and to an english translation of the article.
And speaking of translations, for those who are just starting out with Python, I've begun putting english translations of a series of introductory tutorials I've done in French:
http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/2013/01/python-on-raspberrypi-01.htmlMost everything should work on any operating system, except for the chmod a+x under windows :P
Due to an honest mistake, my lightning talk on Brython turned into an extended talk. The Python with Visual Studio will be rescheduled at a future date. Still, we covered some
cool things with Python, such as this:
http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/2013/01/iphone-app-with-python.html(works with android too)
You can learn more about Python in your browser here:

In the gallery, you'll find all kinds of interesting demos. For example,
this kanban simulator:

I also want to thank Ryan Twombly, Don Jenkins and Max Polk for some really lively and interesting talks.
And finally, some good news regarding our meeting place, the next PYPTUG meeting will be at WFU. It'll save the 30 minutes setup before / 30 minutes breakdown after, leaving more time to talk Python.
