Hiya.  So, I'm pretty terrible at getting to meetings.  Evenings are hard for me at the moment.  But my schedule frees up nicely right around 9pm every day.  So while I might not make it to a meeting, perhaps some people would care to get together for a beer or something?  Or hell, we could do drunk lightning talks, why not.

Drunk lightning talks: I like it.

(But just hanging out over a beer is cool, too.)

Maybe Common Roots? Good beer selection, happy hour from 9-11pm and possibly get the back (reserved) room if we want…

Cheers,

Hello everyone,

I'd go to Common Roots, but as I recall they have a strange policy of turning off the wifi at random intervals.

But I guess that shouldn't be a deal breaker since this is a meeting of human beings and not internet-enabled Python programming automatons.

If I recall correctly, the Wi-Fi is usually only turned off during
meals, so we should be fine at 9:00 PM.

So, +1 to Common Roots.

Now, what dates work for folks? Monday or Wednesday next week would be
good for me. What about you, Ian?

Monday or Wednesday both work for me too, when in doubt I tend to choose the earlier date.

I haven't been to Common Roots before; it is this cafe?

A beer with python-folk sounds pretty good to me; I'll probably attend if I'm able.  I don't have a (known) conflict with the proposed times.

If this is the right place and I read their private/common room reservation calendar correctly, the room is booked from 6:30p-9:30p on Mon Feb 13, and not booked in the evening at all (yet) on Wed Feb 15.  I don't know if we want/need to book the private room -- I have no preference.

That's it indeed.

I'll defer to someone the rest of the list. Since we're talking about
starting around 9:00, it sounds like either night would still work with
the private room.

Though I probably won't make it, I don't see the need for a private room just everyone to hang out and talk and drink. In fact, another time we did this, we ended up meeting another developer who works on Apache Lucene. But if a lot of people are going to make it, a private room might be nice (haven't paid attention to numbers myself).

Hi all!

Executive decision: Let's do Wednesday the 15th at 9:00 PM at Common Roots!

See you all there,

Did anyone actually fill out the room request form?

Nope. I think the assumption is that commingling with the rest of the
folks at Common Roots might be a good thing?

I'm not certain the rest of the patrons at Common Roots would agree.
It tends to be a pretty study-heavy place in the evening. I'd
recommend reserving the room so our conversations won't disturb
others.

Benjamin,

I'd say go ahead and book it.

I like the idea of hanging out in the common space but I think it'd be a good idea to have a fallback in case it's busy and we don't have good options for tables.

Cheers,

-Curt

Anyone planning to show up a little earlier, maybe ~8:30?

Despite my best effort, I yet again have to bow out of an event, even when I freakin' got the whole thing going.  But a family emergency makes it pretty much impossible.  But I will try again!  I hope everyone has fun.

I can't make it either; I have recurring plans Weds evenings. :(
