I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Err no. You are thinking, it is time for another PyMNtos meeting, a great get together over drinks and snacks and great discussions on Python and technology in general. As least that is what I am thinking.

This month's meeting is meant to be an introduction to Python for anyone new. A place to introduce everyone and let anyone ask any questions they have. Even if you just want to see what happening outside your own perspective of the technology world—I sometimes go to the Ruby meetings and I can't make heads nor tails from a line of Ruby—come join us. And if you are more experienced with Python, don't feel left out. Someone has to help answer questions, and besides, what is more fun than talking Python?

So I encourage (ask, beg, plead?) that everyone talk about, tweet, facebook, linkedin, pownce (OK, so pownce is gone:( ), myspace, wave, email, snail mail, and even fax and wire (via telegraph) this to anyone and everyone that you know that might be the slightest bit interested in Python in the Twin Cities (or are willing to drive to the Twin Cities).

Also, RSVP at EventBright, http://pymntos.eventbrite.com/, so we have a good idea of how many plan to attend. This helps with getting enough snacks and drinks.

Hi Dan,

I am going to to play this by ear depending on how many beginner/non-beginners show up. We can always break into two groups and have a couple people give the an intro to Python, while the others discuss other things as they wish.

If this bombs, we can do lightening talks or something like that.

I'm quite happy to give a few lightings (and itching to talk about
MongoDB in the advanced track!), if there are ones that aren't covered
yet. Are we scheduling and assigning any in specific (hint hint!)?

I am not scheduling anything specific. Just playing it by ear depending on the turn out.

I would like to clarify some things based on some questions I have received.

The plan is to introduce ourselves and a little bit about our experiences (with Python, programming, career, etc). Then let anyone ask any questions about Python (or the group). We could do some live coding to answer the questions and demonstrate Python. For example, if anyone is wondering about dictionaries, someone can demonstrate them. We can help point out where to find good resources, the pros/cons of different libraries or frameworks. If people have scripts they have created to accomplish simple tasks, it might be nice to have available to show as references.

Flexibility is the key.
