AUGUST
I was thinking that August would be fun to do a Mob Programming
night. This is called "Whole Team Programming" which is basically
pair programming on steroids.
Basically, there are three roles:
1. Driver -- this person types and performs the actions as directed
by the "Navigator(s)". The "Driver" doesn't think or act, just plays
dumb most of the time.
2. Navigator -- this person directs the "Driver" on what to do.
3. Peanut Gallery -- these people help the "Navigator" on solving
the problem at hand.
I was thinking we'd take 5m rotations through the Driver and
Navigator positions (possibly have two co-Navigators for more fun).
In 90m, we should be able to get through 18 rotations (or 32 slots
of Driver and Navigator so everybody should be able to
participate). A month in advance, we'll put up a "Driver" and
"Navigator" sign-up sheet so we can blast through evening without
having to pick people.
See a 3m+ time lapse video with captions on Mob Programming her:

Anybody have a suggestion on a small python problem that we could
work on for an August Mob Programming event? I was thinking of a
binary file duplicate checker (recursively looks through photos for
duplicate images binary, not just file name).
SEPTEMBER
For September, I wanted to throw out the topic idea of "My
Favorite Python Package". Short presentations on a Python package
you couldn't live without. Thoughts?
