As I prep the release announcement, and some tweaks to the Pylons site for Pylons 1.0, I'd like to highlight a little more prominently companies that are using Pylons on the home-page. There'll also be a direct link to the "Sites running Pylons":
http://wiki.pylonshq.com/display/pylonscommunity/Sites+Using+Pylons

The sites on the Pylons home page will have a small logo linked in a similar fashion to the jQuery list of "Who's using it":
http://jquery.com/

Those at larger companies that generally seem shy of admitting Pylons is in use (Looking at you Fortune 500 companies!), no other details about how or where Pylons is used needs to be provided. I'm looking especially for companies/websites with names that tech people are likely to recognize, or are recognizable by the general public, or are doing something really impressive (massive bandwidth, userbase, etc.).

If you're not already on the list of "Sites Using Pylons", and think can get approval for the use of your logo as a company using Pylons, feel free to email me directly as b...@groovie.org.

Cheers,
Ben

Also, I'll be changing the name to "Who is Using Pylons", since lots of companies use Pylons in other places than their main public website.

Hey Ben. This looks like a pretty interesting company that uses
pylons (at Least it appears they do from their jobs page)

Pylons really is pretty cool. I only used it for a few months but it
was great to work with

Hey Ben:

FreshBooks is using Pylons. We're re-writing our old-school PHP app
and API in python + pylons + sqlalchemy.

We've said so publicly here:
http://developers.freshbooks.com/blog/view/dog_food/

I look forward to hanging out again next year at PyCon.

Cheers & more importantly Thanks,

Are you interesting in folks using Pylons only in internal-facing
applications? We have a number of critical pieces of internal
services running on Pylons, but none of it will ever be user-visible.

If so, I'll talk to my boss and the marketing folks to clear it.

Yep, internal is fine. It's a "Who is using Pylons" rather than a "Sites running Pylons". I heard a few people at the companies are nervous that appearing on the front page under "Who's Using Pylons" might be interpreted as an endorsement and open them up to liability, so I'm having a lawyer craft a proper legal disclaimer that "use of Pylons does not constitute an official endorsement by these companies" etc. Ah, the joys of the legal world...

Start a hearsay page. I heard the State of Oregon is using Pylons and
loving it, but you didn't hear that from me ;-)

I will be using pylons for Warply Designed online game portal that will be utilizing WebGL for games, while using pylons to handle all the backend work.

[PS: A lot of work for one person so it might be awhile before the site is live]

Hi Ben,

FYI we use Pylons for some of our websites at the ULB (Université Libre
de Bruxelles) / Belgian Biodiversity Platform:
- http://ias.biodiversity.be
- http://www.biodiversity.be (home-made CMS)
- ...

best regards,
Julien

We are using Pylons for an internal application at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Dept. of Computer Science). Unfortunately, it is currently deployed behind campus kerberos authentication since it handles some student data, but we are looking into releasing the source code in the future for other academic institutions to use. Pylons is truly a joy to work with, thanks for the great framework.
