Connections seem to be increasingly getting rejected with "Login
Failed" for me with PyYIMt over the last few days. Perhaps the
protocol change for Yahoo has gone through? Is anyone else
experiencing this?

I have not noticed this on my side.  It is entirely possible that Yahoo are starting to shutdown the servers that PyYIMt is using, so if anyone wants to work on updating the code, please send us a patch.

I am using xmpppy's yahoo-transport and it's totally stable.
I have not had a problem logging into the service since their
announcement

I've narrowed this down to "users that have a user in their roster
that is using Yahoo Avatars".

http://avatars.yahoo.com/

Perhaps nobody here has that? (Wrong crowd, I assume.)

I set up my own avatar using that site, and I can log in, and I think I have people in my roster with the, so I don't think that's an issue.
