(sorry, some of you are getting this twice, email crashed midway.)
Hi there musicians - here comes our great RUSH back again,
coming up on Sunday, in Pelham, singing from 4 to 6 with an
optional potluck after that, and then even more singing!
Once again in the Pelham Community Center, with directions
at http://sconant.net/rush/commctr.html
It's a fine place to meet, and free thanks to the Pelham
taxpayers, but a little primitive as to its kitchen facilities.
There is a tiny microwave, big enough to hold a standard
dinner plate. There is a small refrigerator, holding maybe
a quarter as much as a standard fridge. There are two electric
"burners" (is that what you call them? hot plates, anyway.)
And a sink. There are about 20 teacups, and 20 saucers which
can serve as dinner plates for people on severe diets. And
a pile of plastic forks and spoons. So, you might like to bring
your own plate and mug and fork... but it is OK to get by on
the Pelham stuff in a pinch I suppose! Anyway, I don't know
about you, but for me it is the SINGING that is the best part!
It seems to be a really musical time around here. On Saturday
is the always-the-first-saturday Song and Story Swap just down
the road, at the Nacul Center in Amherst (592 Main Street),
with John Currie. If you have never been to the S&SSwap, try
it - these are great gatherings in a great venue. Go on over
to the web page of the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society to check
it out: http://www.filbert.com/pvfs/.
On Sunday, our RUSH!
Then on Tuesday, the concert to benefit the education fund of Mass-Care:
The Massachusetts Campaign for Single Payer Health Care. That concert,
with a star-studded cast including several RUSH folks, will be a great
one, and you can read a description at
http://www.westernmassafsc.org/calendar/concertb10.html or see a flyer at
http://www.westernmassafsc.org/calendar/concertb10.pdf
So, plenty of music is coming up. See you there!
