[Punjabi-users] Style and Convention Guide for Punjabi

I proud to announce that we prepared first draft for "Style and Convention Guide for Punjabi" in Open Source.
Purpose of this Style Guide is to provide guidlines for the localizer/Translators to translate Open Source Softwares in Punjabi (Gurmukhi Script).
A proper communications is very much necessary particularly in the case of Open Source and Free software communities
where continuously new translators are joining in their community team and start working on their language.
They should know the method and ways by which translation are being done in the community.

ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਚੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਗੁੱਡ ਕਦਮ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਸਰਸਰੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਮਾਰੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਗਾਈਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।

4.6 ACCELERATORS
" So for translating in Punjabi as well, original
English accelerators are being be used. So we should follow this conventions"
ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ
ਐਕਸਰਲੇਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ
ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਣ
ਦੀ ਪਿਰਤ ਪਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਵਰ੍ਹੇ 2012 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ
ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਗਨੋਮ, ਫਾਇਰਫਾਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਬਰੇਆਫਿਸ 'ਚ ਇਹਨਾਂ
ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਰਨਾ
ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੋ ਜੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ (ਐਕਸਲੇਟਰ) ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
4.9. NUMERALS
"So we will use 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 instead of ੦, ੧, ੨,
੩, ੪, ੫, ੬, ੭, ੮ and ੯."
ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ 0,1 ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਅੰਕ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਉੱਤੇ
ਜੋਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਭਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ
ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖੋ ਜੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅੰਕ ਕਿਤੇ ਲੁਪਤ ਹੀ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ।
4.12. ACRONYMS
ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਣ 'ਚ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ
ਇਹ ਟੈਗ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
4.14. KEYS NAME
ਸਵਿੱਚਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਗਨੋਮ ਵਿੱਚ
ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ
ਨਾ ਰਹੇ।
