Google analytics will give you precise details of traffic to your
website from India. But if you are looking at generic ranking for
highest traffic generator websites within India then certain reports
do get generated randomly but not necessarily they are accurate.
Your google analytics shows 7.99

Thanks Dimakh. That was really insightful.
Is there any other reliable alternative to Alexa to track the traffic in
India?
We went live with "private beta" on 5th Dec. 2009.
We also have google analytics in place. Rajan / Navin
Alexa (AN AMAZON COMPANY) ranking and SEO are not connected
to each other. Actually Alexa simply tries to track traffic coming to
your website from different countries irrespective of the ranking on
search engines. Most of the Alexa traffic ranking is based on users
using amazon services and tools especially the Alexa Toolbar. Most

I believe that vizisense.com is pretty immature.
It is not even displaying properly for me on my Ubuntu + Firefox combination
and we don't use Windows!
Most of the Pune sites that I can see using Alexa is not visible there on
Vizisense.
They don't have either right technology or right data to do the job!

Actually since most Pune startup sites / websites / blogs tend to be small,
there is no site/service really that does a good job of giving
rankings/traffic details of any of them. I only brought up Alexa since the
original poster mentioned the high alexa ranking.
navin.

 Navin,
Which ranking application you are using to check ranks? See Vizisense.com,
it gives good ranking of Indian websites. The most important factor which
determines the search engine traffic to your site (and hence the ranking)
are number of inlinks. Use [link] to find out

Free bandwidth - I would like to see that happen asap. At least truly
unlimited bandwidth with much better SLA for business lines is a good start
and will make my 2010 to some extent. Leased lines which offer good SLA are
way too costly even if you take it from STPI directly. Even though smaller
companies are getting into ISP business, they dont have technology which

More on this topic: The problem with throttling the bandwidth is that people
will gravitate to services that don't throttle it. Believe it or not, you
will start seeing free bandwidth in not too distant future, just like you
are starting to see limited free storage (limits are increasing daily). The

 Interesting viewpoint!

However, unlimited means no limits. Constrained unlimited is not
unlimited in any sense of the word. *Again, you can charge the
minority much higher if that is what economics dictates but come out
and say it*.
Airtel comes out and says it very clearly. Thats the thing to do imo.

I would actually beg to differ at least in principle. The international
norms are that 5% unlimited customers consume 50% of the bandwidth. So
Basically other 95% end up paying much much more because of them.
Even from a contractual perspective so long as the terms are clearly
stated eg. Airtel clearly states that they will halve the bandwidth

Let me play proverbial devil's advocate.
I have Airtel's 512 kbps "unlimited" connection. The fair usage limit
is 100GB per month. If I exhaust 100G limit, the bandwidth drops to
256kbps. While in letter, "unlimited" and download cap of 100G don't
go together, for all practical purposes, 100G is unlimited. I think,
