Roosevelt HS in the Seattle Public School district is seeking candidates for a CS/Web Design teacher for next year. I am currently that teacher and have accepted a faculty position at the UW, so will be leaving Roosevelt at the end of this year.

The teaching portfolio is currently split into two tracks — computer science and web design, with introductory and advanced courses in each track, including AP CS A. The curriculum is summarized here: http://rooseveltcs.org/courses/. Not all of those courses are offered each semester.

The AP course is also a UW in the HS course and maps to the UW's CSE 142 syllabus, using Building Java Programs as a text. The introductory CS course is not a prerequisite for the AP course.

Roosevelt is a wonderful environment and they will be looking for a teacher who is passionate and knowledgeable and can inspire and mentor teenagers in their learning.

The position will be posted on the SPS public website. If you know of anyone who is interested in submitting an application, please pass this information on.

And I am happy to answer any questions directly, so feel free to email me off list: ad at goldensection dot cc.

Thanks,

.andy
