Wire binding is one of the most popular binding methods around because it has the ability to make any document look professional and sophisticated. If you're interested in this type of document finishing, you may be wondering what machine you should get. Here's a list of five great wire binding systems that are worth a look.
1. Akiles OffiWire. This is a great machine that comes in two varieties. One has a 3:1 pitch (i.e. three holes punched per inch) and the other has a 2:1 pitch. Both machines can punch up to 10 sheets of paper at once and they can even handle plastic covers. These devices have a U-shaped handle that's comfortable to grasp for both right- and left-handed users. The OffiWire is great for small offices and people who haven't bound before because it's super easy to use.
2. DFG Wire200. The Wire200 is another great device for light use. This product can punch up to 12 sheets per lift and bind documents using spines as thick as 9/16". (That type of spine can bind up to 130 sheets.) The Wire200 has an open throat and it can punch paper as long as 21 inches, so it's great for those larger documents. This product is made entirely from metal, so it's incredibly durable and can be used for years.
3. Akiles WireMac. Like the OffiWire, the WireMac comes in both 3:1 and 2:1 versions. However, it can punch a lot more paper at once thanks to its 20-sheet punching capacity. These machines have fully disengageable dies and open throats so you can punch and bind documents that aren't letter-sized. You can even bind thick documents with the 2:1 version because it can work with spines that are up to 1-1/4" wide. Finally, this machine has an all-metal design for incredible durability.
4. Fellowes Galaxy e-Wire. This is a new machine from Fellowes and it's a great one. This is an electric device with a great punching capacity (20 sheets) and the ability to bind documents containing up to 130 pages. The Galaxy has a lot of special features including a chip tray that's easy to empty, a storage drawer for your supplies, and a spine selector so you can pick the right one for your book. It also comes with a binding starter kit that includes covers and spines so you can begin using your Galaxy immediately. The Galaxy is covered by a two-year warranty.
5. DFG E-Titan Wire. The E-Titan is a heavy-duty device that can be used frequently. It has an astounding 28-sheet punching capacity thanks to TurboPunch technology. The machine also closes wires perfectly every time and it has disengageable dies so you can work with different sizes of paper. The E-Titan also has an anti-jam feature so you can produce your books without any interruptions. Finally, this device has all-metal parts and it comes with a one-year warranty so your investment is protected.
All of these machines can help you produce great-looking documents that will impress everyone. So get one of theses devices today and start binding!
