For the vast majority of people life is not a bed of roses. All of us have to work hard to achieve success in our jobs, our businesses or even in our relationships. In spite of working hard we find that we are unable to achieve much success and the friendly advice given to us is to work smart and not hard. There is no substitute for hard work in whatever activity we are involved in but working smart and hard is certainly the best way to go about in our search for excellence, success and abundance.
1. Working smart means that for any activity, business or otherwise, there has to be a plan. You should first be clear about what your objective or goal is and work towards achieving that goal. Success can seldom be achieved without a proper plan. Your own plan will help you achieve your goal.
2. Productivity plays a major role in the success of a business. By implementing short cuts and more efficient ways of doing your daily tasks is a smart way of doing your work and increasing productivity.
3. Though multi-tasking is a good approach, the vast majority of people find it difficult to do too many tasks at the same time. Doing one thing at a time efficiently without making mistakes and working hard will be more productive.
4. Concentrate on the most important tasks or the tasks that will bring you better returns. This does not mean that you are going to neglect the lesser important ones.
5. The tendency to be a perfectionist is unfortunately one of the hidden evils that stand in the way of success of people who work hard. Desist from being a perfectionist. Work smart and hard. All other minor things will fall into place.
6. Act smart and learn quickly from the mistakes you have made and from the mistakes of others. You need not reinvent the wheel. Just follow what the other smart people have done.
7. Keeping abreast with the latest developments in technology in your area of activity is a typical way of working smart. Make use of software programs, tools, spreadsheets and ofcource social media to help you to work hard and efficiently.
8. Identify people who are often associated with working smart. They work smart, work hard and their out is much greater than the others. To the amazement of the others they find time to relax and participate in other activities too. Get help from them. Ask for help. Some of them are really anxious to help.
9. Delegate some of the lesser important routine work to others and concentrate on the more important and difficult tasks. This will vastly increase your output.
10. Working smart and hard can be stressful at times. Take a break whenever you feel tired or exhausted. Socialize and relax with your friends in the evenings. This will give you the necessary boost and enthusiasm to start another day's work.
These ten tips for working smart and hard will boost your productivity and ensure success in all your activities.
