High-security paper shredders are very common in today's workplaces. One of the best one is the GBC ShredMaster GLM1130, a product that offers a great shredding capacity and a very high security rating. It is perfect for busy offices in which 10 or more people will be using it and it has some great features, including a overfeed indicator. However, it does have a couple of things you need to consider before investing in it. That said, here are the strengths and weaknesses of the GLM1130.

First, its strengths:

* The GLM1130 has a pretty good shredding capacity. It can shred a maximum of 11 sheets per pass and it will devour any paper clips or staples that may be left in your documents.

* This shredder can destroy a variety of other items including DVD's, CD's, and credit cards. There is a separate feed opening for these items.

* This machine has a very high Level 4 security rating. It is a micro-cut shredder that can turn a document or multimedia items into countless 3/32" x 19/32" pieces. The shreds are stored in a large 30-gallon waste bin until you dispose of them. The waste bin pulls out so you can easily empty it.

* To protect the the motor from overheating, the GLM1130 will shut down automatically. This will also help you conserve power which is beneficial to both the environment and your wallet.

* The GLM1130 has an overfeed indicator that will help you avoid frustrating paper jams. This indicator will glow red if you try to shred too much paper at once. That way you can remove the excess sheets and prevent a jam from occurring.

* This shredder operates so quietly you'll barely be able to hear it. Your employees won't be distracted by it so your office's productivity level can remain high.

* GBC shredders have some of the best warranties in the business. The GLM1130 has a lifetime warranty on the cutting head. Meanwhile, the machine as a whole is covered for two years. On-site service is also included just in case the device gives you any problems.

And now it's weaknesses:

* Despite having separate feed openings for different types of waste, the GLM1130 has only one waste bin. This means your shreds will mingle together and make recycling kind of difficult.

* Although this shredder is particularly heavy, but it is rather bulky. It lacks casters so moving it around might be challenging.

Conclusion:

The GBC ShredMaster GLM1130 has a couple of minor flaws, but overall, it really is a fantastic paper shredder, especially for offices in which several people will be using it. It has a good shredding capacity for a micro-cut shredder and it offers a terrific amount of security. You'll definitely feel that your private information will be safe even when shredding such sensitive documents as financial statements, personnel files, and so on. If you need a high-security shredder for use by several of your employees, the GLM1130 is definitely one to take a look at.
