Love traveling but hate the thought of planning? Don't worry, a lot of people feel the same way. The solution for you are tours. If you're looking for a great vacation experience in London, be check out the available tours. Tours are an ideal way for tourists to visit London because a professional guide will teach you the history behind the city. Even better, you get to sit back and soak in the landmarks while you learn about each landmark's importance. There are still quite a few tours to select from, so it may be difficult picking one. I'll go through the important factors to consider for each type of tour. Before your trip to London, you'll want to pick one or two of the types of tours below.

The Full Experience and Full Service Tours

On a full service tour, each operator pick a unique set of landmarks. You'll have to do some research and make sure your favorite landmarks are included before reserving a seat. A tour guide professional will drive you to each landmark while teaching to you about the London's history and the significance of the landmark. Full service tours are the most expensive tour type, but they also offer the best experience and require the least amount of work.

These tours generally last an entire day, it's important to get an authentic London meal. Before reserving a full service tour, check to see if a meal is included. The entire tour will last anywhere between four to twelve hours. Tourists should expect to see popular locations like the Elizabeth Tower, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, London Eye, the Tower of London, or Tower Bridge. At some locations, you'll be dropped off an have a certain amount of time to walk around and take photos. Tour operators will make deals with destinations, so you'll usually be allowed entrance and be given an audio guide with some attractions.

The Red Double Decker Bus Tours

The top of the bus is an open deck, which is great during bright weather. It's also ideal for taking photos of London while enjoying a relaxing ride. Tickets are usually for one or two days. The tour operator will show you famous landmarks as you drive by and explain the history behind each landmark.

The red double decker buses are perhaps the simplest tours that London offers. You don't even need to reserve a seat. Simply hop on and purchase your ticket when you get on. It's also the most iconic London tours. Many souvenir shops will offer little trinkets, postcards, or magnets with the red double decker bus on it. Your ticket is usually valid for up to two days, meaning the next day you can go ahead and hop on another bus. Each bus has a different route, so it may be worth your time to hop on as many buses as possible. They also double as a method of transportation. There's no limit to how many times you can hop on and off.

The Budget Walking Tours

Walking tours are best for budget travelers, travelers who want a slow and steady experience, and anyone with the energy to walk around Central London. Travelers are on their own to get to that meeting spot, so you should be comfortable with taking the tube. Groups meet at a specified location which will be determined before booking a reservation.

Most tours only cover Central London, the entire city is much too large to walk. There are even a few free walking tours, although tips are highly recommended. Walking tours only cover a small amount of the city because there's not enough time to walk all around London. During a walking tour, tourists can generally take their time while exploring landmarks because there's no rush to hop back onto a bus.

The River Thames Cruise Tour

On the River Thames cruise, riders pass along several historic landmarks and get a view of them from the river. Views of landmarks are usually unobstructed, you'll have great photo opportunities. You can hop onto ships from the Westminster Pier to start the tour. You don't have to reserve a ticket beforehand, but if it's a busy tourist season you might want to. It's definitely ideal for any days which aren't raining. Ships have open decks, so you'll have a clear view of each landmark while the tour operator explains the significance. River Thames cruises are the best value tours on this list.

A professional guide will teach you the importance of each landmark as you pass them. The River Thames goes through Central London. Expect to see major sites like Big Ben, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey.
