Science has shown us that everything is energy. Things that appear to be solid are merely energy bundles. Our cars, our furniture, our buildings are all made up of energy in various patterns. Thoughts, feelings, and emotions are also made up of energy and after an expression they continue to exist. We live very much in an "energy soup", sometimes it is noticeably pleasant, or sometimes it feels incompatible or uncomfortable.
The atmosphere (energy) in churches, temples and cathedrals is continuously being cleansed and blessed with incense, bells, candles, sound, salt, prayer and more. And these sacred spaces are known to feel safe, peaceful and deeply nurturing.
Clearing the atmosphere in your own personal space, when moving into a new space, or perhaps when we've been feeling irritable, tired, frustrated, etc. can shift the tone. And it is a fabulous way to remove stale energy that may be lingering from past illness, arguments or upset. Regardless of why you feel the way you do, if your space doesn't feel quite right, here are a few tips to help you bring in some feel good energy. After you read through this article some of the tips may appear to be quite logical and shamelessly apparent! No experience is needed. It's all about clearing out the old and making way for the new!
Perform a space clearing when your energies are strong, your thoughts are clear and preferably when there is no one else in the area (unless they are there to assist). You want the energy "transfusion" to be from you.
* First, clear as much clutter as you can.
* Physically clean the space as best you can; dust, vacuum, wash floors, etc.
* A nice fresh coat of paint on the walls can also do a lot.
* Open up all the doors, windows, curtains, blinds, etc. to let as much light into the space as possible. This will also allow unwanted and stagnant energy to flow out.
* Play a selection of fun and lighthearted music. Let the upbeat rhythm permeate the entire space. No doom and gloom, please!
* Plants are great for creating fresh, positive energy. Just as plants transmute carbon dioxide into oxygen, they can transform negative energy into positive. Anything vital and beautiful will contribute to a positive atmosphere.
* Continuously running water is another great way to get chi flowing and keep it moving; this is why fountains create such a fresh, soothing vibe.
* If you want to create a peaceful feeling, or if you want to brighten the atmosphere, hang a crystal in a window to refract sunlight.
* Another idea is to include a windsock, weathervane or wind chimes. The soft sound of the wind is pleasing to the ear and will make you feel good about being there.
* Provide pleasant lighting in and around the space so it is illuminated and welcoming. A well lit area is cheerful and makes it easier to concentrate. If you have a dark corner or a room where there's no ceiling fixture, use diffused lighting. Multiple lights pointed towards the ceiling and walls provide reflected light and a soft, overhead glow which minimizes harsh shadows.
* If you have recently moved, you might be feeling some residual energy from past residents. If that's the case, then consider opening everything that is closed. In short, open all the doors, windows, cabinets, boxes, etc. Anything that is closed should be opened. Taking items into the natural light for a "breather," and opening everything mixes new energy with old.
* Soaking in a hot bath is not only relaxing but water has an amazing ability to rejuvenate and re-balance our energy. Need to be pampered? A sauna, or steam bath, will help you sweat out impurities. Exfoliation will help remove dead skin cells and improve your circulation. And a massage will relax your body and help circulation as well.
Remember, there are numerous ways to clear a space. There is no one right or wrong way to do it! Eliminating "yucky" energy is more about intention rather than it is about the method used. So, happy space clearing.
