Wedding photographs are treasured as one of the most important keepsakes that chronicle our happiest moment in our life. They capture the essence of a milestone that we'll remember for years to come. But planning and budgeting may have an effect on how much we spend on our wedding photographs. As we plan for the church service, the hall, the food and decorations our budget may get a little pressure when we get to how we're going to get pictures done for this special occasion. Do we get an expensive professional photographer or do we get one or two of our friends to act as our "official" photographer?
What if you could enlist a whole army of photographers? You can look to your guests as volunteers for you. Some could be "assigned" to the wedding ceremony. Others could take outdoor pictures at your favorite park and others could record the wedding reception for you. All these people can help you get an enormous supply of wedding pictures for you to choose from for your wedding photo album or scrapbook.
It's important to organize this well in advance. If it is possible, send your guests an invitation to take pictures along with your main wedding invitations. Ask those who have digital cameras if they could help take pictures. People love to take pictures at weddings. If you feel it is in bad taste to ask people to share their photographs on the invitation itself then you can certainly ask them in the followup email if you asked people to RSVP by email. This is probably the fastest way to get people to respond to your invitation. In your followup email you can specify whether you'd like to borrow the pictures or borrow the digital photo files. Most everybody with a camera would love to help out. Printing hundreds of pictures from your friends can still be more economical than hiring a photographer.
To make your wedding even more memorable to your guests, give them an incentive to take pictures for you on your wedding day. You could offer them a slide show of your wedding on DVD just for participating. There are several slide show programs available for your PC or Mac under 100 dollars that can do this for you. Offer your guest a chance of getting a DVD with their pictures featured in this special presentation video.
Once you've done this for your own wedding you can offer to make slide shows for your friends. You can even turn this into a business. The demand for creating slide shows of special events like weddings is getting bigger and bigger. Once you become an expert at using the software to create these slide shows you can quite possibly put one of these slide shows together in just a few hours. Do 3 or 4 of these a day and you'll have a very good income.
You could advertise in your local newspaper or buy a block of advertising in one of your local flyers that get handed out in coffee shops. Or, you could have a web site that accepts projects online form all over the country. It's all up to you how big you want your business to be. Anything is possible.
