With the onslaught of new and path breaking technology and rapid steps and progress in all areas of business, there is a growing demand for specialists in all disciplines.

Professionals who are theoretically and practically proficient in their respective fields may be referred to as technicians. They may not be the end service providers but they are definitely the behind-the-door specialists who make it all possible.

Almost all fields have availability for jobs as Technician. Some of the hottest and fastest growing fields for technicians are:

�Veterinary Technicians/Technologists �

These technicians are required to perform medical tests to diagnose illness or diseases of animals under the supervision of a qualified veterinarian. The Occupational Outlook Handbook released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics has included this profession in the list of one of the fastest growing professions from the year 2010 to 2020, expecting a growth rate of 52 %. The mean annual wage for the year 2012 was reported as $ 31,470 by the bureau.

�Avionic Technicians �

These technicians are responsible for the maintenance and performance of the control systems in any aircraft, helicopter or space vehicles. The Occupational Outlook Handbook expects a growth rate of 6 % from the year 2010 to 2020 in this field. The Bureau reported a mean annual pay of $55,440 for the year 2012.

�Clinical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Technologists �

They are employed by laboratories and healthcare facilities to collect samples and undertake medical tests. A 13 % growth from the year 2010-20 is expected according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook with a mean annual salary of $39340 for the year 2012.

�Medical Equipment Repairers and Technicians �

As the name suggest these technicians have to deal with installing and maintaining medical equipment required for patient care. Mean annual salary of $46910 was reported for the year 2012 with a projected growth rate of 31 % for the decade from 2010.

�Forensic Science Technicians �

With a job outlook of 19 % growth for 2010-20 and mean annual salary of $55730 for 2012, this is an exciting field to be in. They provide assistance in the investigation of crimes by collecting and analyzing physical evidence.

�Environmental Science Technicians and Environmental Protection Technicians �

These technicians collect and study samples to gauge the changes in the environment and the effects of various activities on the environment. They may work on fields, in laboratories or in offices. Expected job outlook for 2010-20 is 24% with a national estimate of $44570 as mean annual wage for 2012.

�Surveying and Mapping Technicians �

Technicians in this field make maps after collecting geographic data with the help of cartographers and surveyors. The job outlook is positive with a 16% expected growth rate for 2010-20 and professionals in this field earn a mean annual pay of $42680 for 2012.
