Are you thinking about learning more about first aid and also getting a certificate that proves your knowledge? One way you can achieve this is by attending a live classroom first aid training course. In person training classes offer you the opportunity to put first aid theoretical principles into practices, making this type of course one of the most educative. Read below for 4 steps to obtaining a first aid certificate in person.
Step 1: Research the Matter
The most prolific organization that offers first aid training in the US is the American Red Cross. The Red Cross has numerous branches all over the USA, so it is highly likely that there is one somewhere near you. You can pay them a visit and see when they have courses scheduled and how you can join one.
You can also visit their official website, enter your zip code and the type of class you want to follow, and be presented with listing of classes, locations, and times.
There are also other nonprofit organizations or health care training companies that offer live first aid training courses, so make sure you check them out.
Step 2: Choose a Class
After researching the market, you have to decide on a particular class. There are various types of first aid courses you can attend, so make sure you check them all out before deciding. When choosing one class over another, take into consideration aspects such as fees, length of training, type of training, and location. Choose the option that best suits you and proceed to the next step. Do make sure that the class you have chosen does offer a first aid certificate upon completion of the training program.
Step 3: Attend the Training
Depending on who is offering the first aid training and the type of first aid which you will learn, the class can last from a few hours to several days. Be punctual to the class and pay attention to everything your instructors tell you. If you feel like it, you can even take notes of things that seem more important to you. You can also ask your instructor for a handbook or additional material that can help you with your training.
Be active and participate in all the exercises. The best way of learning any skill, not just first aid, is by putting into practice. So, if youre instructor ask who would like to perform a particular exercise, make sure you volunteer.
Step 4: Get Your Certificate
At the end of the training course, you will be asked to pass an exam in order to receive your first aid certificate. The method of examination may vary, but, in general, it will consist of a written exam that will analyze your theoretical knowledge and a practical exam, that will evaluate your skills. After successful completion of the exam you will be able to receive your certificate.
These are the four steps anyone needs to follow to obtain their first aid certificate in person. Although this method of obtaining a certificate does require more effort on your behalf, live classrooms have the advantage of teaching you firsthand how to employ first aid techniques.
