Titanium metal may be considered as the metal of the future because of the endless ways on how it can be used. The properties of titanium make it very useful. It is strong, hard, light weight, highly resistant to scratch and not too prone to corrosion. It is capable of withstanding salt solutions, acids, and even chlorine gas. Titanium weights 45% less than steel but it has an equal amount of strength. When compared with aluminium, it actually weights 60% more but it is 100% stronger.

This metal is actually named after the Greek mythology God, Titan. It is just appropriate because titanium is relatively stronger than other metals like gold and silver. This natural metal is abundant in places like Australia, Canada, North America, South Africa, China, India and New Zealand.

Titanium is a type of transition metal. Because of that, it can be mixed with other materials so that it can have other colors. The typical color for titanium is grey but when processed through anodizing, its color can be changed. This is often done when titanium is used for creating jewelries.

Titanium for Jewelries

Because of the great properties of titanium, it is being popularly used these days for creating jewelries. Aside from being strong and non corrosive, it is good for jewelries because it is also hypo-allergenic and resistant to rust.

Titanium jewelries may also be quite expensive because its malleability makes it difficult to mold. So, modern equipment has to be used to be able to create the jewelries. Still, it is worth it to invest on titanium jewelries because it lasts for a long time.

Fascinatingly, aside from the fact that titanium looks great as jewelries, it can also have various health benefits. Wearing titanium bracelets, rings and other jewelries can contribute to overall health.

Getting rid of pain is one of the effects of titanium jewelries. People who have arthritis and athletes who endure pain can rely on this metal to relieve themselves from pain. Titanium is capable of doing this by stimulating better blood flow within the body. It can actually improve blood flow up to 300%. This can also lead to stimulation of nerves. That is why titanium bracelets can be beneficial for those who have carpal tunnel syndrome. It can even increase the energy level of the person wearing it.

Titanium in Various Industries

Titanium has also contributed a lot in various industries. In the chemical industry it has contributed a lot on the development of chlorine alkalinous industry. Titanium is being used as anticathode and condenser.

For the petroleum industry it is being mixed when creating various structures. It is also an effective heat conductor, reactor and hyperbaric container.

Even the aeronautics industry has found use for titanium. It is used for building the bodies for aircrafts, spacecrafts and even the missiles. Titanium is perfect because it is durable but is still very strong.

Other uses for titanium include bicycle frames, golf clubs, dental implants and cases for computers and laptops.
