*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
When starting a home business, its hard to know the exact figures, but I wonder how many people start it on a casual basis? Some certainly do, while for others the way to begin is by planning everything out carefully, leaving their paid employment and then focusing on getting the right business up and running as soon as possible.
Both ways are equally as good for getting started. But there is a lot to be said for starting in a more casual manner. Lets explore some of the benefits here.
For a start it gives you the opportunity to try out a home business without fully committing yourself. You still have all the legal requirements to meet with regard to tax and National Insurance of course, but you can start your business without having to think about quitting your regular job first.
The benefits of this are obvious. If you start a business and it fails, you would be left in a dire situation if you had given up your regular full time job to do it. But if you started it purely part time in the evenings and at the weekends, it wouldnt be such a huge problem if it fails. There is also the possibility that you would stand a better chance of success if you arent focused on earning a set amount by a set time. If you know you have a full time salary coming in you can take your time, do things properly and ensure you get everything just right without the need to rush in and create an income quickly.
Some people find working in this way, casually, does have drawbacks as well although it can depend on the type of person you are as to whether you are affected in this way or not. If you have the security of a full time salary coming in, you will always feel less inclined to work on your casual business, no matter how much you might want to do so. It is far easier to sit back and relax instead of working to develop your own business, because money is not a sticking point. This often leads to the casual home business never actually getting launched properly!
This does not affect everyone though. There are plenty of people who get up earlier in the mornings so they can spend an hour or so working on their own business before going off to work. In addition to this they also think about working on their business most evenings and at weekends. This does mean sacrificing some of their own free time, but in the end these people are usually the ones who end up with the successful home business.
As you can see there are some definite benefits to starting more casually and building up from there. It all depends on your current schedule of course, but starting part time is often much easier and definitely requires less planning. You can dive into your own business without having to sacrifice your current income. However it also means that you will struggle to dedicate the amount if time that is required to launch any new business successfully. Could working evenings and weekends in your new start up be the ideal route to success if you have a business idea ready and raring to go?
