For some people maladies show up in the mouth and they don't know what they are. Some are not even that intrusive, but rather are curious in nature, while others are difficult to manage. For those that are looking to figure out what is a tonsil stone, or any other malady, it requires a little bit of investigation. For the purpose of answering the question, we will look at what the ailment is, how it can manifest, and how it can be dealt with properly.

First and foremost, for those that are in a panic and think that this is going to be a painful type of issue, it's important to remember that you're not dealing with something as serious as kidney stones. This is not going to be something that you're going to feel or understand in a painful way at first. This might seem odd, but it's true, you will not feel any major symptoms, although there are some things to look for. Consider the following 3 things to look for when you think you might have something going wrong.

* Bad Breath - The first thing that you'll find is bad breath, and not just in the morning or at night, you'll have it all the time. You'll have continual bad breath no matter how much you brush and floss, or use mouthwash. The presence of stones will cause problems.

* Sore Throat - Often times tonsil problems can come attached to tonsil problems. You might feel some pain and discomfort, and associate it to a cold or a cough, but it's not necessarily due to a virus of that nature. You will feel pressure and soreness, and sometimes a slight pain that is caused by an infection directly aligned with tonsil stones.

* White Lumps - You'll often times have small hidden white material that is coming out of the mouth from the back of the throat. These are small, solid, and white pieces that are soft to the touch. Sometimes they hide out in the back of the throat, and don't come up often, but from time to time you will find that they come forward. If this is the case, you will need professional help to get it checked out as you could have debris from a much larger source.

At this point you should have an idea of what is a tonsil stone and can progress forward with fixing the issue. Fixing the malady is as easy as looking into several different stay at home options. If you're not dealing with something that has severe symptoms, than you'll notice that the treatments can be as easy as gargling with salt water. Another good way to fix the issue is to look into antibiotics that can affect the tonsils in appositive matter, with no major side effects.

There are some rare instances where surgical removal is going to be required. This is only when the stones are large and cause pain. Only a doctor can diagnose if this is the issue you're dealing with, so make sure to seek out attention if you're feeling continual pain.
