When we see a white set of teeth in the work place then the chances are that person is perceived as successful and maybe even a key influencer.

When we look at someones smile and what is reflected back is a great white set of teeth then this person looks younger, healthy and more successful as a result. It can amazing what such a difference teeth whitening can make to how people see you and we are not talking here about spending lots of money of cosmetic dentistry just plain and simple teeth whitening treatments.

Over quite a long period of time the teeth penetrate staining which we have in our food and drinks and also found in nicotine if you smoke. This colour finds it way in to the teeth and if left unattended can become very deep in the enamel and become harder to shift.

Most of us have the luxury of good dentists and combined with brushing and flossing we look after our teeth quite well in most cases and this tends to manage much of the staining but it is likely that over a period of time some staining will find its way in the teeth and particularly the enamel.

Teeth whitening is great because it helps lift that staining in the enamel out and this results in a whiter smile for everyone to see the results of. Depending on how much you spend will depend of how quick and effective the whitening takes and lasts.

For example a whitening mouthwash costing just a few pounds is not going to have the same impact as having laser teeth whitening or power whitening.

The best place is to start at the dentists because they should give you a balanced view of what is available and also suggest what is likely to work best for your teeth.

Once you have done this then take their advise and search on the internet for suitable teeth whitening products. If your budget is tight then look at a home kit or whitening strips made by the well known tooth paste company Crest or if you are looking for instant changes then consider the light based method known as laser whitening which can whiten the teeth in one application and one hours session.

Whatever you opt for you will need to think about keeping the teeth as white as possible after the initial session or program because the teeth are always going to be porous and therefore likely to re-stain at some point in the future.

Having regular whitening is not harmful to the teeth but would only suggest a top up every 6-10 weeks as anything more regular is less likely to work as you would not accumulated too much staining in this time window.

Once you have whiter teeth then be proud to smile and show everyone at work your amazing new smile and combined with the extra self confidence this can only do wonders for your careers prospects as people change their perception of you!
