At the time of kitchen refurbishment you need to plan for a good back splash too. It will add to the beauty of the kitchen while serving its purpose. Using Slate for your Back splash
It is a good idea to have your backsplash made out of slate. It was in use in the housing industry for a long time and now people are using it in the kitchens. Its dark black color with the glitter it gives, your kitchen will look great especially if your kitchen is of light color. These are easy to maintain and are durable. With all these qualities it will make a good choice for your kitchen backsplash.

When you apply some water proof paint it will look like a back splash and it will work like a backsplash though there is no backsplash in place. To buy the right kind of paint, go to internet and do a bit of a search you will be able to find the suitable paint. It is very cheap but serves the purpose.
Using your present Backsplash with a Sticker
This too is a cost effective method to give a new look to your kitchen. Instead of removing your existing backsplash you can buy a nice sticker and paste it over your present backsplash. There are nice colorful stickers you can purchase to suit your desire and to suit your kitchen. They certainly add color to your kitchen while giving it a new look thus giving a new lease of life to your newly refurbished kitchen.
