We are living in social media world today. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest have not only provided us the opportunity to socially connect with each other but one can promote his/ her website or online business in an effective way too. Pinterest is special of all because it has achieved success in very short period of time.

What is Pinterest?

If you havent been able to check the Pinterest by now, well, you should. One should use Pinterest not because this is another new social media website on the internet sphere, but because the site went viral in a few weeks.

First, you need to know what Pinterest is all about. Its more like a pictorial social media networking site that allows you to share with others in form of pictures only.

The core idea of Pinterest is that, each user gets a themed board where he pins the stuff he likes from all over the internet. Everything on site is represented in form of images. The site has seen an immense growth after getting launched and it has become the first website in history to get 10 million unique visitors/ month in such short time.

How to use Pinterest for driving traffic towards your website:

There are different ways to promote your website or blog via Pinterest that are described below.

Using Images On Website And Pinning On Pinterest If you are not using images on your blog/ website, I suggest you start using them now. Not only that you can post the images on your website but you can also pin the same image on your Pinterest pin board too. In this way, people will also be able to pin your images if they like them. The images must be attractive and eye catching because people have a split second to look at the images and like/ dislike them.

Using a PinIt button You can use a PinIt button to directly pin an image on your boards. The button can be installed in your browser. Along with that, you must also display a PinIt button on your website/ blog so people who like it can pin the post on their boards too.

Branding the Business Name You not only want to drive traffic towards your website you also want people to recognize you and your business as well. Make sure you are using Pinterest with your business name to create a brand image.

Fill the About Section There is an About section on your Pinterest profile where you can put information about yourself. Try to put concise and interesting information so people can get attracted towards your profile and start following you.

Add Website URL in Profile Adding your website URL in your profile is a great way to drive your Pinterest traffic towards your site/ blog.
Pin Stuff Regularly And Steadily Instead of pinning a lot of stuff once in a day, try pinning different things all over the day with a steady pace. It will help you get more attention and drive more traffic to your website as an end-result.

How Pinterest Is An Effective Social Marketing Tool?

There are many logics that tell you why Pinterest is a great social marketing strategy. It has emerged as a powerful tool in such a short period of time.

About 80% of the Pinterest users are connected to the network via Facebook.
On average, a Pinterest user spends 89 minutes on the site whereas the same turnout is only 21 minutes when it comes to Twitter.

A person might think He can share photos on Facebook and other social networking sites then why should he bother about Pinterest?

Thats very true! But comparing the both social media sites, you realize that Pinterest is quite different from Facebook. On Facebook, it is more about who you are, what you do and how you have been doing it. However, when it comes to Pinterest you can totally reshape your social image, become whatever you want to be and do what you want to do.

On Pinterest, you create less stuff and share the repeated stuff most of the times. So, if you have created something really good, it will be repined again and again bringing some good number of traffic to your website.
