These days, people are finding more and more opportunities to work from home. Whether through an employer, a freelance agency or even on a self employed basis. Obviously if you are already working as a company employee, you just need to check if there is any way you could work at home. Other people need to search for work opportunities that suit their needs.

Searching for work can be difficult and time consuming due to the many factors involved, so before you start your search I would recommend that you follow the hints below:

* Before you commit to any work do a little research on the employer or company - some sites offer work in return for a one off fee, these are known to be scams. A person should never pay to work!

* Clear a space where you can work free of distractions - keep televisions and audio devices switched off. Being surrounded by such distractions can slow down your concentration and affect your work.

* Be clear on the fees that you charge - those who are just starting to work from home may need to keep their prices down until they get properly established. You should also bear in mind that charging too much will also have an adverse effect on work.

* Check what insurance you may need - people quite often assume that their household insurance covers working at home, although this is not the case. Different jobs require different things, for example an accountant would need a computer and additional software, these items used specifically for work may not be covered on your current policy.

* Register your income for tax purposes, and avoid future investigation by the tax man!

When starting a home work project you should consider any initial outlay you may need to pay out, include any bills related to your work such as your telephone and internet bill, and also keep receipts for any office supplies. In the beginning you can expect to be a little overwhelmed, keeping track off all the necessary things can be frustrating.

When looking for home work opportunities, you could try looking online many sites are used by companies seeking homeworkers. You could also try your local job center as companies seeking people to work in telesales will post ads there, other methods of finding working include the jobs section in the local newspaper.

Sometimes word of mouth is another way of finding work, if you have a client that is pleased with your work they may recommend you to people they know. This in turn creates positive feedback and further work. If you then go on to create your own website offering your services remember to include customer feedback, as many people will check out what previous clients have had to say. Other advertising may be necessary, so make sure that you promote your services in the best way possible.

Remember, NEVER part with any money in the hopes of getting work. Be wise and do thorough research!
