Every time the subject of using LED lights as a replacement solution for the traditional incandescent light bulbs is brought about, the main argument against it is the LED downlight price, considered too high compared to the benefits this lighting system offers.

How High Is the LED Downlight Price - Is it High Indeed?

To get a clear answer to this question, we first have to analyze all the implications. If we consider only the short term results, then using LED light fixtures doesn't represent a valid alternative. However, this is a superficial and limited approach, because these fixtures make a great choice on long term.

In order to discover the most efficient lighting solution, it is important that we compare all options available objectively, reviewing their pluses and minuses separately.

- Incandescent lighting - It was invented towards the end of the 19th century, and became the most popular device used in electric lighting. However, recent research proves that it is the most inefficient, as only about 20% of the energy is converted into light. It means that the rest is transformed into the necessary heat for the bulb to function properly. Briefly put, it consumes four times more than it produces. Besides, the heat released into the atmosphere has a negative impact on the environment. Last, but not least, when overheated, it can cause explosion and even fire hazards. It can be dangerous as well for the inhabitants of the house in which incandescent light bulbs illumination is used. Given the circumstances, the LED downlight price no longer seems that high, does it?

- Compact Flourescent Lights, or CFL - Although more efficient than incandescent bulbs, they come with their own set of inconveniences. First of all, they are not fit for just any location, because they have an elongated form. Besides, they can be dangerous for human health, due to the amount of mercury they contain.

- Halogen lights - They are the brightest of all, and yet inefficient. Just like in the case of incandescent lights, the energy wasted in the process is considerable, compared to the one that is actually turned into light. They may also overheat and jeopardize the safety of people and objects.

Knowing all these facts, the LED downlight price suddenly appears more convenient, simply because this lighting system does not involve any dangers, being much safer compared to the above mentioned systems. Besides, the electricity costs decrease considerably as soon as the LED lighting devices replace the traditional incandescent, halogen or CFL bulbs.

There is one more aspect left to consider, perhaps the most important, namely the impact on the environment. As mentioned, LED lights are the leaders in this direction. Through a massive replacement of the old, potentially dangerous and polluting light bulbs with the eco-friendly and efficient LED devices, we can save valuable energy and ensure a cleaner world for the future generations.

Hopefully, all these considerations will help us realize that the LED downlight price is insignificant, compared to the present and future advantages paying it brings about.
