GBC paper shredders are some of the best document destroyers around. One of their machines that's great for heavy use in busy offices is the GBC ShredMaster GLHS930 Micro-Cut Paper Shredder. It is extremely durable, has a mind-blowing security rating and an anti-jam feature, and it operates very quietly. It also has a couple of minor drawbacks. Here is a detailed look at what this product has to offer, as well as what could be improved.
Here are its strengths:
* The GLHS930 has the second highest security rating available: Level 5. It's a micro-cut shredder that produces paper bits that measure 1/32" x 7/16".
* In addition to paper, this machine can shred CD's and DVD's, credit cards, and any fasteners left in your documents such as staples. There are separate feed openings for paper and media items.
* This shredder operates quietly so your workplace will remain quiet and productive.
* Paper jams will be a rare occurrence when you use the GLHS930 because it has a jam-free feature. The machine has a panel that will turn red to let you know if you're trying to shred too many sheets at once.
* After the machine hasn't been used for a bit, it will shut off automatically. This greatly reduces the chance of the device overheating.
* This shredder is well-designed and is durable enough to withstand a lot of use.
* The GLHS930 is designed for use by multiple people and this is reflected in its waste bin capacity. It can store up to 30 gallons of waste.
* This shredder has a great warranty. There's two years' worth of coverage on the machine and the cutting mechanism is covered for as long as you own the machine. On-site service is also available as part of the warranty.
And here are its weaknesses:
* Although this machine has a terrific security rating, since it's a micro-cut device, it doesn't have a particularly high shredding capacity. It can only shred up to 9 sheets at a time.
* All of the different kinds of waste are mixed together in the waste bin, so recycling will be a bit challenging.
Conclusion:
The GBC ShredMaster GLHS930 is a great paper shredder for shared work spaces that require a machine with a very high security rating. A Level 5 rating is simply incredible and it makes the machine ideal for shredding documents that contain a lot of private information. Plus, it's great that it can shred multimedia items and credit cards, and that there's two separate feed openings for different types of items.
Anti-jam technology is always a welcome feature, as is an automatic shut-off. And let's not forget that this product has an excellent warranty. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have the highest shredding capacity and that your shreds will be all mixed together. If you can live with the GLHS930's two shortcomings, then you're going to find that this is a great paper shredder for your office. Get one today!
