If thinking of visiting the greatest natural wonders within the US, then the best of them would be the Grand Canyon. This is one place filled with tributary canyons that would definitely leave you in awe. Not only does it have colorful rocks that can be dated back to the Precambian period, but also has the Colorado River. It would, however, not be easy to catch all the beauty that Grand Canyon has from the ground. This is why there are Grand Canyon airplane tours to give visitors a spectacular aerial view of the park.

Touring the Grand Canyon using an airplane is more advantageous than bus tours because one is able to easily view most of the landmarks which are treasured in the area. Some of these include the Zuni Corridor and Zuni Point. The latter can be easily seen due to the cacti-carpeted plateau and red canyon it has. The Zuni corridor, on the other hand, is the point where Colorado River meets with Little Colorado.

There is also the Desert View Watchtower, which resembles the prehistoric Indian tower, that one can visit. Close to this is the Painted Desert with a terrain that is greatly multi-colored together with the Petrified Forest. The geologic mystery of the park, the Temple Butte, can also best be accessed by air. Before reaching here, however, you will have passed through the Navajo Indian Reservation which holds a lot of history.

The sites to visit are not just those which have been mentioned so far as there are many others. This is attributed to the size of the park and its features. Among these is the North Rim, where the grandeur of the park is. Most planes will fly from this place over to the Kaibab National Forest and Kaibab Plateau. In Indian language, Kaibab means the mountain which is lying down.

By now you must be imagining how great this place is. However, this is not all as there are still more places to explore. The highest view point of the Grand Canyon is the Imperial point. You will access this area with the plane while moving back to the South Rim.

Another spectacular point is the deepest region within the park. It is also the widest and most open. This place is known as the Dragon Corridor. Other sites that you will be able to see while on the tour include the Mojave Desert, the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Fortification Hill.

If planning to take the tour by an airplane, there are some fundamental things that you have to know. It is always advisable to do early reservations before the planned day of departure. This is so even if currently staying in Las Vegas, where most commercial air flights heading to the park are. The main reason behind this is the fact that trips fill up quickly due to their popularity.

Flight companies operating in the area normally have different charges. It would therefore be cheaper for you if you go for the best deal in the market. The Internet can be of great help in finding information regarding the various deals. Surprisingly, most bookings can just be done online.
