Looking for the right ring for your engagement party does matter. Engagement rings are always the first present to a lady when a man proposes to her. Since the summer is the most popular time for weddings to occur, wedding jewelry sales shoot through the roof around mid year. However, did you know that engagement rings are also popular types of gifts during the Christmas season?

The first sign of the custom of exchanging rings began way back where men would hand the woman of his choice a nuptial ring as a sign of his affection. Back then, they did not have the exquisite materials used in the rings we have today, rather they used iron.

While the rings were simple and did not have a 18 carat diamond on it at the time, it was quite often noted that the rings were engraved on the inside instead, carrying the initials of the person.

It is extremely common for rings to be adorned with a diamond (or diamonds) these days however of late, the cubic zirconia is becoming the jewel of choice. Why is this so? Cubic zirconia are extremely beautiful stones and they are inexpensive when compared to diamonds.

Although there are many couples who decide on plain gold or silver bands for engagement rings because they want something clean and simple, the majority of people who do so opt for a plain band because they can't afford to have diamonds.

If you are really after a ring with a set stone, but you prefer to not spend as much on a diamond, you should definitely consider cubic zirconia engagement rings. With the money you save on the ring, you could put it towards having a better honeymoon or even pay off part of a new car.

Diamond rings are much too expensive and it would be much better to put it off for the time being until you really do have money to blow.
The thing about the zirconia's, these stones look fabulous and unless you have the experience to tell them apart, you would not visually notice a difference between cubic zirconia's and diamonds.

It also looks a lot like diamond rings and way too beautiful because of its inexpensive price. The cubic zirconia stone has almost the same hardness as diamonds which you would not believe given that it is only man made and lab created. Its also brilliant but not as brilliant as diamond. But it does not matter because only experts with instruments will know the difference. Another thing about cubic zirconia rings is that it is worn by almost everyone even movie stars who does not want to wear real pieces of jewelries in public and prefer to use cubic zirconia jewelries made to look like the original jewelries.

If you're young and you're about to propose to the lady of your dreams, you might want to seriously consider a zirconia as you can have the option of having colored stones as opposed to just having a clear one. Diamonds when colored cost a lot more money as they're extremely rare.
