Etymologically speaking, arcade games represent amusement tools kept in an arch way enclosure, from the Italian understanding of ソスarcattaソス. On another note, arcade games are the game genre that stands for an operating machine with coin control, that may entertain the player through vary means: pinball, ping-pong, car races, etc. etc., observing that it becomes obvious the popularity achieved through time.

The early ages of arcade games started within the interwar period, when were developed several kinds of coin operating mechanical systems. These included simple statements regarding the use of the arcade game only within appropriate ages and categories of people. Furthermore, outstanding evolution within arcade game domain started with the use of electronic features that proved to be very useful for simplifying and enriching the structure of an automatic gaming tool. Later, the emphasis of the arcade world begun with the transformation of the game itself by using more and more reality imitations, until it became, in the late ソス70s and ソス80s, an industrial environment based on electronic work.

However, the exaggerate use of realistic elements along with the continuous improvement of the games made possible the apparition of simulator games.

Nowadays, the main characteristics which make the differences between arcade games and simulators are the lesser reality imitation, lower planning of the levels and task issues (for arcade) and the atmosphere that can be created throughout the amazement toolsソス time stretching (for simulators).

Because of these differences, it is evidence the decreasing of the sales within arcade game industry in the benefit of new born generations of gaming components, thinking at certain environments and cultures. Because the arcade genre is an easy playing game as opposed to simulating gaming tools, the chances for establishing a balance between the two genres is quite probable.

The rise of the technology over the years have been directly influencing the evolution of these virtual welfare gadgets, as the hardware components were modified and replaced very often. Using only mechanical machinery, the first types of arcade games were confronting with lack of interest among the players, because of the poor graphic and low capabilities. When electronic boards and integrated circuits started claiming their places, the race of self device technical improvement between the developers emerged rapidly.

The use of personal computers and combos play stations, however, overcame the arcade establishments for there was possible to play the favorite games at home.

Using arcade games on a PC requested the amount of time to install and to run the game, for there were low computers back then. When arcade games were introduced online, no matter if it were equipped with Java, Flash or DHTML characteristics, it shown the popularity of arcade.

This conquering phenomenon called arcade gamesソス world is representing one of the logos of the 20th century itself, with good and bad, useful or useless time spending gadgets and, in the very end, the history of what men can do when they enjoy two apparently different domains: electronics and entertainment.
