Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a term that gets the attention of everyone with a website. Especially, those that have a website that creates no business. The problem is that some advertising companies will tell their clients that they need a website just to stay with the times. $3,500 later along with three revisions, they have a website. The site looks great. It accurately depicts their business and has a call to action. One month later, the website owners go to their back office to check for traffic. The current count of visitors to their website is zero. Sometimes, the best built and optimized website will not get any traffic at all. Being indexed in major search engines is not enough to climb up the rankings. If you are going to build a website, hire a good SEO company to take care of all of your marketing needs.
This is where your SEO and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) come into play along with other techniques to increase website traffic while increasing business. SEO is your on site marketing. This is where you effectively insure that content supports the keywords that the owner of the website wants to rank for. This also includes making proper adjustments to the title, metatags, keywords, (H1,H2,and H3) tags, and other site checks to insure that website is set to get indexed by search engines. Normally, on site SEO is completed before off site,SEM, is started. This just makes ranking of the website go a little faster. As you go up the rankings, your traffic should start to increase.
Once the on site SEO is completed, SEM begins. There are many ways and combinations of SEM. I normally start with the old school and new school method of building high quality links back to the website while promoting the keywords they want to rank for. It worked in the late 1990's. It still works in 2015. The only difference is that you have to make the changes based on what Google is expecting to see for high quality back links. These days authority and trust are the better back links. The website with a high page rating with no trust or authority, is not considered a powerful back link.
Normally, this method will rank sites both nationally and locally. It will always be a lot of hard work. It should be. Remember, that you are competing against many other businesses that want that high ranking as well.
Other ways to promote a website to improve visitors and new customers include: Pay Per Click Advertising, Facebook Advertising, Improving Social Signals, Social Bookmarking, and other methods to improve the visibility of websites.
One of the most important things to do when selecting an SEO company is to select a business partner. They should want to form a relationship with your business that will be prosperous and continue to grow for life of business. With that in mind, the company is constantly striving to stay up with technology and changes to guarantee high quality work and steady business for your company. A good company will provide you with timely reports and face-to-face follow through.
