Few visitors to Las Vegas realize that tours to the spectacular Grand Canyon are available right from the city. While the sights of Las Vegas itself are awesome, they cannot compete with the natural magnificence of the biggest canyon in the world. For those in a hurry, there are helicopter or aircraft trips available as well. These provide a birds-eye view and give a good overall impression, although what is seen can seem a little remote, and perhaps slightly unreal. A raft trip provides the most intimate experience of all, giving an real inside view. You do need to be reasonably fit and more time may be required than for the alternatives. This is a totally different and exciting way of fully appreciating the spectacle.

While the various South Rim departure points only permit you to visit that side, starting from Las Vegas allows you to see whichever rim you prefer. While there may not seem much of a difference, different vantage points can create completely different impressions.
