Mother's Day 2013 (Sunday, May 12) will be here soon, so it's time to start making your plans. If you want to treat mom to a float trip in the Grand Canyon, you certainly need to get reservations early because the trips are very popular and the boats only take nineteen people at a time. There are different raft trips you can choose from, but they are all fun and your mom will enjoy whatever you pick.
About Grand Canyon Floating Trips
Float tours of the Grand Canyon stay on smooth water. Because there aren't any rapids along the route, they're perfect for families and people of all ages, including seniors and kids as young as four. It is a fun-filled day of excitement for everyone in your family.
You can begin your float tour from Vegas or Tusayan, AZ, which is located right outside the main gates to the Grand Canyon. These are full day trips that begin early around 7 am, even on holidays and weekends. It is a lot of fun, but you will probably be worn out when it is over. Plan on letting her rest when you get back to your hotel rather than making plans for a dinner and show.
Las Vegas Raft Tours
Float trips setting out from Las Vegas combine smooth water rafting with a dramatic West Rim chopper flight which lands on the bottom of the canyon. It's exhilarating to fly 4,000 feet down to the canyon floor, and you can explore the area on foot once your chopper lands.
Next, you will board a tour bus and head for the Hoover Dam. Not many folks get to see the dam from its bottom, with its impressive 700 foot concrete structure towering overhead.
At Hoover Dam you'll hop into a raft for an 11 mile float trip that ends at Willow Beach, Arizona. When you gently float your way through the canyon, you will see all kinds of wildlife and pretty, colored rocks. Bring a swimsuit, because you'll have plenty of opportunities to take a dip in the Colorado River. Your trip also includes lunch.
Raft Tours In Arizona
There are a couple of rafting trips you can take if you want to start in Arizona. The basic float tour involves taking a 2- hour ride by bus to Page, Arizona where the Glen Canyon Dam is located. Before you begin your trip, your river guide briefs you on what you can expect to happen as you float the 15 mile stretch of the river. The trip ends at historic Lee's Ferry.
You can upgrade your float trip by flying into Page rather than taking a bus. After landing, you'll hop into a 4x4 for a ride to Antelope Canyon (believe me, it's truly unique!). When the Jeep ride is over, your rafting adventure begins.
Your Mom Is Going To Love It!
The rafting trips are gentle and relaxing, yet they allow you to see spectacular scenery, they are the ideal way to celebrate mom's big day. The price includes everything you'll need to have a great time such as water, lunch, gear, guide, and (only for the bus option) hotel pickup and drop off.
If you plan to take your mom on a float tour of the Grand Canyon for her holiday, then be sure to book your seats as early as possible. Last year these trips sold out. So, buy your tickets early and buy them online to get a nice discount. The discount will save you enough money to buy your mom a special treat!
