Lean, healthy abs could offer a lot of advantages to a woman. Not only do they contribute to her shapeliness, they are also a sign of good general wellness and strength especially in the body's core. Women who have great abs also tend to be more confident of themselves because they know they are keeping their bodies fit - no worries of baby fat or muffin tops, much less of obesity-related diseases.
But sexy abs don't just appear magically. Everyone has to work hard for them. Women have to be careful when working out because without the proper tools and guidance, they could just be tiring themselves to no avail, or worse, be prone to injury. Using abdominal exercise equipment for women can prevent these, creating an effective, safe, and enjoyable ab-sculpting experience.
One of the most versatile - and probably the most fun - pieces of abdominal exercise equipment is the exercise ball. Also called the stability ball or the Swiss ball, this is the big inflated rubber ball commonly seen in gyms and exercise videos. There are many exercise moves that can be done with it, but among the best for abs is doing crunches while either sitting on the ball or keeping it balanced between the legs. This adds extra challenge to the body without requiring too much strain, making it a great move for women.
For ladies who are not confident with the exercise ball, the BOSU can be an alternative. The name stands for "both sides up", and it refers to a piece of equipment that looks like a half-ball or a dome. It is also made of inflated rubber, so women can use it for similar ab exercises without worrying about it rolling around on the floor. True to its name, the BOSU can be used curved-side up or flat-side up, depending on the preference of the user.
Hand-held types of equipment are also helpful. The ab roller, for instance, is a widely-used tool for trimming the midsection. It looks like a small wheel with a handle bar on both sides. The most common way to use it is to start in a kneeling position, then with both hands on the handle bars, roll the wheel straight on the floor until the torso is stretched, then roll back to starting position.
Another hand-held device for toned tummies is the kettlebell. It is an exercise weight like a dumbbell, but it is rounded and has a handle. This makes it easy to grasp with one or both hands, and good for various moves like swinging, pulling, and pressing. Women can use kettlebells as weights for ab exercises without straining their bodies with too much heaviness.
For ladies who want some more weight or resistance, a cable pulley is an effective type of abdominal exercise equipment. This is a full-sized pulley that uses an exercise resistance cable with a handle. Pulling on the handle provides resistance, so it enhances ab moves like crunches and lifts. This makes ordinary exercise even more effective yet it is not as strenuous as the large ab machines around.
These pieces of abdominal exercise equipment are just tools. They should complement a woman's regular exercise routine, plus a healthy diet and enough rest. Only then can the body be truly healthy, and the woman, strong and beautiful.
