If you are bored with the same old routines of exercising and eating right, fulfill your cravings for something different by mixing up your gym routines. Do activities that are active and fun. Try dancing, indoor rock climbing, or a fun kids game. Try a physical activity that has fun attached to it and you are more likely to make it a part of your healthy living.
Try these few really fun activities that can help you stay in shape and be healthy. You may have to modify some of these activities to fit your physical capabilities, but at least try three or four of them; for fun and for staying healthy.
Fun Physical Movements
If you want to just try something different or find a new passion these physical exercises can definitely get your off on the right foot.
Zumba is an aerobic workout that blends choreographed footwork and body movements to help sculpt your body and burn fat. The movements from flamingo, salsa, meringue, and other South American dances are perfect to get your blood moving.
Hula hooping is coming back from the 1950s. Hooping is not childs play any longer. It is a great cardio program to trim your buttocks, waist, and thighs as well as your hips. Hooping will tone your lower back muscles and abdominals. You can hula-hoopinside or outside, with a class or in private.
Pole dancing sound a bit erotic and maybe a little silly, but pole dancing is a great way to lose weight, get fit and stay healthy. It will also give you a boost of confidence. You do pole dancing in a class setting for aerobic calisthenics that promotes upper body strength and provides heart health. You lift your body away from the pole which tones you arms and enhances your posture. You can also work in a floor routine that provides resistance training.
Indoor rock climbing is an anaerobic workout that helps with strength and balance. You can burn up to 800 calories an hour by rock climbing indoors. Its almost like yoga on a wall since you must shift your weight and stretch your limbs. It builds muscles and strengthens your core.
Jumping rope is a full body cardiovascular workout. Want to feel like kid again? Jump rope and improve your coordination, strengthen your muscles and bones and burn up to 200 calories in a workout.
Want a coolness factor in your workout? Try fencing. Fencing is a fast paced aerobic workout. If you are highly competitive, fencing will solve your thirst for competition while at the same time building your speed, flexibility, and coordination and toning the buttocks, stomach and thigh muscles. You will burn quite a few calories as you vigorously fence.
Exercise can be fun, and playing team sports will give you an all out workout. Go out for softball or have a regular pick-up game with the neighborhood. You are more motivated to exercise when you have teammates who are trying to stay in shape, too.
