You are a happy mom and your baby is already trying some new and intriguing foods.
Knowing what to feed your baby is of crucial importance. A number of ingredients could be dangerous for the young and growing organism.
As a responsible parent, you will have to pay close attention to your childs diet. Certain foods that grownups enjoy could be dangerous for a young and growing organism. Keep on reading to discover more about the foods that you should avoid until your little one reaches a certain age.
Keep Food Gluten-Free
Gluten is a protein that the human body has difficulties digesting. Thus, your babys diet should remain gluten-free until the little one becomes nine-month-old.
Gluten is largely contained in wheat. Some amounts can also be found in rye, barley and oats. Avoid giving your kid bread, pasta, oat meals and biscuits that contain flour made out of wheat.
Citrus Fruits
Everyone knows that citrus fruits are very important to our health. Lemons, oranges, grapefruits and tangerines contain large amounts of vitamin C, which is essential to the proper functioning of various bodily systems.
The babys diet should contain no citrus fruits. These can be introduced for the first time when the kid becomes 1.
Citrus fruits have the potential to cause baby allergies. At the same time, they are very acidic and could irritate the delicate stomach lining.
Babies that are already suffering from allergies should start eating citrus fruits after they become 24-month-old.
Eggs
Babies that are younger than 18 months should not be given eggs.
Eggs happen to be a very controversial food. Some nutritionists believe that babies should be given eggs as soon as breastfeeding stops. Others turn down this claim and parents are left wondering what to do.
Despite all of its useful ingredients, the egg could lead to food allergies. The egg white contains proteins that are difficult to digest.
Further, the egg whites proteins are serious allergens. Start giving the baby eggs after the age of 18 months. Be careful and observe your kids response. In case you notice allergy symptoms, consult your pediatrician immediately.
Cows Milk
The protein contained in cows milk is very difficult to digest and it happens to be one of the biggest allergens for young babies.
Infants should start drinking milk after they become 1. Keep in mind that one out of four children aged under one suffers from an allergy caused by milk. Be careful when introducing dairy products in your kids diet. Begin with white cheese at the age of nine months. You can then introduce cottage cheese and yogurt. If your baby feels ok with these foods, you can move on to the introduction of milk.
Fish and Marine Foods
Fish undoubtedly is one of the healthiest foods on our planet. Yet, your baby should eat no marine products or food before becoming 1-year old.
Many types of fish and marine foods can cause allergies. Try giving your baby little amounts of fish and if you experience no problems, you can confidently add fish to your kids weekly diet. It would be wise to wait longer before introducing more exotic sea foods.
