When you work from home there can be a real danger of never getting any meaningful exercise at all. We all know we should get a minimum of thirty minutes exercise a day, but home business owners can easily fall short of this if they dont make an effort to stay active.
As a home business owner it is far too easy to get into a rut of starting work as soon as you wake up and carry on working throughout the day until you are far too tired to work anymore and definitely too tired to even dream of doing exercise! So what is the best way of making sure you do get your thirty minutes a day?
The best answer is to make sure you get that exercise first thing in the morning. When you get up, have breakfast and then go out for half an hour for a brisk walk, it is by far the best way to start the day. Just imagine how good you will feel once the fresh air has blown away all the cobwebs and left you ready to start for the day. The better you feel, the more you will perform during the business day!
In fact, if you work on a computer, you can get up and turn it on before you leave home. This then allows it to boot up properly while you are gone, and it will be ready and raring to go by the time you get back home.
It certainly feels good to get this early burst of exercise, and even if you dont do anything else during the rest of the day, at least you know you have had your thirty minutes before you started your business day. This will also raise your metabolism so you will burn more calories throughout the day! It certainly wakes you up as well, as you can nip out whilst still feeling sleepy and arrive back home fully refreshed, ready to tackle any / all business problems.
Its a good idea to plan a route beforehand that enables you to walk for about half an hour before returning home again. Needless to say a circuitous route is best, since it will bring you right back to your door again, and you wont have to go over the same ground as you return back home. Perhaps you could combine this early morning walk with a couple of chores if you have any to do. Do you have an important letter to send to a client? Make sure you walk past a post box on your way round so you can get it sent off early. Alternatively you might want to pick up a pint of milk to see you through the day as you get through your workload.
There are plenty of reasons why going out for a walk first thing is such a good idea. It certainly gets you in the right frame of mind for the day because you can focus on what you have to do before you actually get started. This means you can feel more confident about the day ahead and start to look forward to it as well. It is certainly better than trying to start when you are still feeling sleepy and unprepared for the work.
Why not try it this week and see how much better off you feel as a result?
