Theres nothing quite more exquisite than a parquet floor. Parquetry is a form of mosaic that utilizes several wood pieces to form concentric shapes. They are commonly seen in houses and offices of the upper class citizens throughout the country although some middle class people also have them in their homes.

Wood materials used for these patterns are usually made of walnut, oak, cherry, lime or pine. Sometimes the more expensive types of woods are used like mahogany and tropical hardwoods. In any case, creating and installing a parquet pattern is an extremely complicated process that requires mastery of the technique, lots of imagination and a bucket load of patience.

The word parquet was derived from the French word parchet which means a small enclosed space. It was first introduced as a replacement for marble flooring materials that required constant washing and caused the wooden framework underneath to decay and collapse.

Today parquet is extensively used more for aesthetic design rather than structural necessity. As time goes by, more complicated patterns and more complex techniques are introduced, giving parquet a more extensive and diverse set of designs that customers can choose from.

Installation is quite simple and it involves the use of hot bitumen or other strong adhesives to keep it secured in place. Parquets might seem very delicate, but are actually quite strong and require minimal maintenance. However, if there is a need to refinish parquet wood floors, some assistance would likely be required.

In addition, in case minimal damage occurs, parquet designs can easily be repaired with the use of glue and adhesives.

As with anything else, parquet floors have their own set of disadvantages, but compared to other wooden floor materials, theyre quite minimal. Firstly, parquet absorbs sound more effectively than ordinary wood making it a poor choice for multi-occupancy structures like apartments.

Secondly, while they are heavily resistant to wear and tear, heavy cleaning machineries such as vacuum cleaners can scratch and damage their designs.

Lastly, if a vacuum cleaner can cause that much damage to your parquet floor design, imagine what would happen if you need to refinish parquet wood floors and you dont have much experience in doing so.

Luckily you can get some help in this matter; enter a flooring team company. This team is comprised of the most experienced and the most professional people in the floor installation business today. From installation to refinishing, theyve got it all covered.

And they dont just handle parquet floors. Their services also include installment of hardwood, engineered wood, vinyl and even bamboo floors. Additionally, they have quite a number of other flooring services at hand like full floor overhaul, in case you might need them.

Practically speaking, this team has all your flooring needs covered so you dont need to look far in search of someone to help you with your problems and concerns. If you need to refinish parquet wood floors but youre a little hesitant to do it yourself, you definitely know whom to call.
