Looking for a towel hook is a big job. There are so many different choices available that it can seem like a very difficult decision. Also there are many things that should be kept in mind as you look for a new towel hook. Whether you are completely remodeling the room, or you just need the perfect accessory for the space you already have, there are a few key considerations to make before you go shopping.
Style
One of the easiest ways to add a little bit of style to your bathroom is to add a new towel hook. Many people choose a hook rather than a traditional bar, rack, or stand because they like the personality that is available. Hooks can be in the form of a simple hook that allows one towel of any size to hang on them, or they can be larger, much like a bar in the shape of a hook that is just large enough for one hand towel. Many people also like a towel hook rather than the other choices because they take up a lot less space. Smaller rooms may look better with a couple of hooks rather than bars or racks because then there is room for both his and her towels without taking up a lot of space.
Design
Of course style plays an important role in the overall design, and it is necessary to make sure that the design also matches the other hardware in the room. It is very easy to find an extremely unique towel hook, but just remember that if it does not match the overall dcor and design of the room, it will stick out like a sore thumb. Just try to match the towel hook with the cabinet or drawer pulls. You can also look to the shower enclosure or curtain rod for additional guidance. Other ideas for things to match the hook with include the color of the paint on the walls and the color and style of the cabinets.
Function
Just remember that you need one that works very well. Some hooks do not work well for holding towels because the towels fall on the floor too easily. Others may have a very sharp end that can damage the towels. Just take a close look at the hook and make sure that it will large enough to hold up your towels.
Placement is another important part of function. Try to think about which wall you want to put the hook on. Measuring is not as much of an issue with hooks because they do fit almost everywhere, but if you do have an especially oversized hook, then it certainly is not a bad idea to measure the space. If you have a piece that has several hooks on it, then you will definitely want to measure the length of it and make sure that you have enough wall space for the entire piece. When hanging the hook, it will help quite a bit if it is positioned in a place where the towel will be very easy to grab whenever you are getting out of the shower or bath.
Material
As with anything else, durability is also a concern for any home owner, and the type of material the hook is made out of is very important. Plastic hooks can be made to be very durable in some cases if they are very heavy, but often they are not a great choice. Metals like pewter, chrome, and nickel are very much in style because they look great and will definitely last a very long time.
