You are probably familiar with titanium rings already. Titanium is a strong metal that is perfect for jewelries because it does not deform easily and it is also hypo-allergenic. The color is usually off white or grey although some jewelry designers anodize the metal to give it a different color.

Today, there is a type of titanium ring that has been dominating the market. It is the titanium ring with inlay. What exactly are inlaid titanium rings? These are the rings that are made using titanium as the base. For added aesthetic value, other materials or metals are mixed with the titanium base to make it look more interesting and attractive.

What are the different inlays for titanium rings?

1. Metal inlay: One of the most commonly used inlay for titanium rings are the precious metals. This includes gold, silver and even platinum. The usual color of titanium is off white or grey. Adding other precious metals can give it a bit of contrast. Also, since titanium is a very strong metal, the design, carvings and intricacies that may be done to it is very limited. When gold, silver or platinum metal is inlaid, there is already a chance to add in more design value. Gold, silver and platinum are more malleable than titanium so it can be molded, shaped and designed more easily.

2. Stone inlay: To add more color and style to titanium rings, different precious stones and gems can also be used as an inlay. There are lots of different stones that can be used for titanium rings like quartz, turquoise, opal, jasper, garnet and other gems. These precious stones can make a titanium ring look more elegant.

3. Exotic hardwood inlay: The softness of the wood, combined with the strong features of titanium can make a really good looking ring. There appears to be a balance because each material compliments the other. The list of the types of hardwood that can be used for titanium inlay is almost endless. The more common ones are the Red Oak and Rosewood. Hardwood usually has striations that add aesthetic value to the titanium ring. Since there is a limitation on how titanium can be designed, wood inlay can add a lot of interesting details on it.

4. Carbon fiber inlay: Carbon fiber makes the titanium ring more contemporary. It usually has a rich black color which can look good when used together with titanium. This also adds more texture to the titanium ring which is often just has a smooth finish. Titanium rings with carbon fiber inlay is often designed for men because of the solid look when the two materials are combined. Yet, there are also designs that can still appear feminine when worn on a womans finger.

Inlay for titanium rings can really make a lot of difference. If you think that titanium rings are nothing more than a simple band, then you are wrong. With the variety of inlay that can be used along with titanium, there are a lot of ways on how to make the rings more interesting and unique.
