Coat racks come in a variety of styles and materials, including metal and wood, but perhaps the classiest option is the wooden coat rack. Although perhaps a bit more expensive than the metal coat racks, they can be pieces of art in themselves. Just like any other piece of wooden furniture, they can become family heirlooms to pass down, and can add a touch of class to any room. This also goes for wall mounted wall coat racks, although perhaps traditionally, this is most thought of in terms of the freestanding coat rack. Some include extra perks, like built-in benches or mirrors. And who can deny the beauty of a piece of wooden furniture? Unlike a metal coat rack, simply staining or applying a coat of clear varnish to a wooden coat rack is all one needs to let the natural beauty shine through. This is a benefit not available in metal coat racks.
Where does one find wooden coat racks? Well, start at your furniture store, or do a search on the Google search engine online; do your homework first, and see if a local store you know of carries coat racks, or give the store a call to see if it does. Many stores like IKEA also carry them, which, of course, can also be found online. You can also try your local Home Depot, and some larger Wal-Marts also carry them.
Take care of your wooden coat rack just as you would any other piece of wooden furniture. A bit of furniture polish once in awhile will help keep it in good shape, to pass on to the next generation if you so choose.
If youre environmentally conscious, remember, too, that a wooden coat rack is made from completely renewable materials, whereas a metal coat rack is made from materials that are not easily produced and harder on the environment than the tree(s) used to produce the materials for a wooden coat rack. Additionally, given the proper care, a wooden coat rack can easily last longer than a comparable metal one, because it cannot rust. Indeed, with a little care, you can easily pass down your wooden coat rack just as you will that are more your grandmother used. However, remember as well that if you should need to dispose of a wooden coat rack, it is entirely biodegradable. This is not true of metal coat racks. This is because although they rust, they take much longer to actually disintegrate.
So for a touch of class, go for a wooden coat rack versus a metal one. It may cost you a little bit more in the short run, but youll have a piece of value that will last you for generations to come.
