Making a site search engine friendly goes a long way in determining just how high, or how low thereof, you will rank in the search engines results. Getting this job done isnt as hard as many people have been made to believe, and isnt as easy also if the right advice is not followed. Here are four important things that you should implement and which are paramount to high rankings with the search engines. Needless to mention, high rankings translates to targeted traffic, which then translates to sales.

Use Keywords in your Page Titles

Keywords should also be used on the page title, which is found near the top of your websites HTML source code. It is what appears at the very top of a webpage just above the menu and is visible in a browser window. Majority of the search engines display the Title as the first top line in their listings. The search engines have a tendency to list pages that contain the search keyword in their title and as such, there is no reason why you shouldnt include your primary keywords in this important part of your webpage.

Each website gives webmasters a great opportunity to use the keywords they are optimizing for to the maximum to the websites advantage. Just look for any available avenues that you can include your keywords, but be cautious not to overuse the words as it can lead to getting banned by the search engines. Using keywords effectively on a website can pay off in the end with high search engine rankings and targeted traffic; hence it is well worth every effort.

Incorporate Keywords in the Body Text

The main text on the page is equally very important. Ensure the first lines of your text contain most of your major keywords, which should then be followed by secondary and tertiary keywords if there are any. While incorporating keywords in your content text, ensure the text flows naturally and doesnt sound forced. The importance of text on a webpage is very important even though many people dont value it. Note that the search engines cannot read keywords in marquees, flash, graphics, images or graphics. This explains the reason why websites with more images than text rank poorly on the search engines.

Add Alt Tags in Image Descriptions

Ensure alt tags are added to all your image descriptions so that you can maximize your SEO efforts. This will also help your visitors have information about the images in your website in case the images take long to load or dont load at all as it sometimes happen. As a rule of thumb, never use more than 3 keywords in a single Alt tag and never repeat the same keywords in different Alt tags, you can use common misspellings of the keywords, or related keywords but not the exact same.

Never Underestimate the Power of Headlines

Typically, a webpage can have more than one headline, as long as the headlines are search engine optimized too with the right set of keywords or key phrases separated with a dash. The main headline, the one that appears at the top of an article or a webpage, is known as a H1 tag. The second or third headlines are known as H2 and H3 respectively and are equally important. The headlines can carry more weight than other texts in the web pages, which is not out of question.
