Around the world, thousands of kids attend martial arts schools and remember it being a lot of fun. While the goal of martial arts training is often recreation, what about learning martial arts as a self defense strategy?
When it comes down to it, martial arts presents an interesting method for self defense. Though it's not for everyone � and indeed, perhaps a pepper spray or a stun gun would make a better choice for some � it's also very empowering to know that you have the physical skills to fight back against an attacker. For the confidence factor alone, learning martial arts is a useful tool in your self defense arsenal.
Taking classes as an adult, though, can be challenging from a purely logistical standpoint. There's working into your day, driving over to the school, the added stress and shyness of being around other students, and the competition with the belt ranks.
