More and more people now work at home, many businesses now allow their employees to do this and many people now have the option of freelance work. The internet offers various methods of working from home including:
* Selling and buying goods
* Freelance writing
* Website development
* Blogging and reviews.
* Internet based chat rooms
* Marketing.
I am a stay at home mother of two, I work at home for a few hours a day to earn a little extra money. For me this is ideal as I am still able to care for my children full time and also it gives me a small sense of pride and achievement knowing that I am able to contribute in some way. I would like to say working from home is easy, but in truth the work can sometimes be quite hard and frustrating. If my children are ill, finding the time to do some work can be difficult this is why it is important that you don't overstretch yourself.
Working at home is a lot more laid back, however it is easy to fall behind. Treat this job as you would any other, if you struggle to motivate yourself maybe you should consider making yourself a schedule. This offers you an equal blend of work and home life and allows you to prioritize your time.
A few things I urge you to remember when working from home:
* Don't commit yourself to working too many hours - it is good to try and set aside a couple of hours a day, away from distractions such as television.
* Depending on the job type you may need to have a reliable internet connection, freelance writers are able to do the majority of their work offline whilst other jobs require much more work to be done online.
* Don't be fooled by home work companies which charge a fee - you should never pay for a job!
* Try to have a space where you can work - this is recommended, although in reality this can be hard especially if you have children. My work space is usually split between the kitchen counter and my lap when im sat on the sofa.
Take your time when looking for the right work from home project for you, check out a few forums relating to your chosen type of work. It is in these forums that you will meet people offering you hints and tips as you start out. Everyone will offer different advice but for the most part their information will be the same. It is easy to find work regardless of your skill level, most writing jobs such as blogging, reviews freelance writing require only good grammar etc, whilst jobs of a more higher standard will require their employees to be a lot more qualified.
Another aspect of working from home is insurance, many people are not aware that working from home may need a separate insurance policy from your household policy. So I would suggest that you check with your provider so you are covered for all eventualities. This is even more important for those who work on selling sites, as goods may be stored in your home.
