Never make the mistake of thinking that you can take short cuts to earning money online. Not if you youre looking for a long-term solution.

If youre going to set up an online business, you need to do it the right way which means doing it well.

The old adage a job worth doing is worth doing well, is a good one to keep in mind when it comes to running an internet business. You need to create a website that customers want to return to again and again.

Just remember that no one made it online by cheating. And thats what shortcuts are. Theyre doings the quick way without necessarily doing them the right way.

So if you want to run your own online business you need to have a good plan to start with and get reliable hosting for your website.

And your website should be your own and not the type of site that you buy ready-made, covered in ads and with affiliate sales links all over it.

Those types of websites never make much money. Theyre all about sales and not about connecting with visitors to the site.

Years ago there was a glut of ready-made, money-making websites all over the internet. The problem was that they all looked the same and were covered in ads for all the latest gimmicks but had no content.

No you hardly ever see these types of websites, althought there are still some around. But dont be fooled by them.

These types of sites have many conditions attached to them telling you what you can and cant do. Mostly you cant add your own content or put up your own ads.

Instead you need to have your own website that you control completely.

This means you must be able to create your own website, or at the very least, be able to understand the source code and what it all means so that you can tweak it and make changes whenever you need to.

If youre not in control of your own website, youre not in control of your online business. Someone else is.

And dont make the mistake of renting space on someone elses website either. Get your own hosting. Learn how to upload pages to your website and change and add things any time you need to.

Doing anything less than this, is a shortcut and should be avoided.

Once you know how to create your own website you can repeat the process any time and have as many websites as you want. And it wont cost you anything.

Being completely in control of your websites this way, means that youll never have to be at the mercy of web page designers or have to pay anyone else to do your online work for you.

Lets face it, if you want to run an online business, you need to be able to do your own online work.

So dont take short cuts. Learn to do everything the right way. Even if, in the future, you decide to pay someone else to do some of your website work for you, at least youll know theyre doing it right and not over charging you for the work they do.

Make sure that the person running your online business is you.
