There are lots of mails that are being sent in Christmas time. Wed like to share with you some tips for better email marketing. Theyve been given by experts in marketing and they include wide area of advices.

Is it acceptable to send more emails in this period of year?

Malm Parry, Adestras Accounting Director:

There is no need to worry about the number of marketing emails that are being sent in Christmas period. Its just one way of advertising and its important that people read your name and the email subject, not that they open it. This way theyll recognize your brand and theyll remember it.

So, the answer is that you should send as many emails as you can. And if you want to send some more after it, do it! You can send as many mails as you like in this period of year.

Storey Philip, Lyris Head of Global Strategic Services:

When sending mails in Christmas time, it is wise to apply some tactics for advertising and marketing. You can smartly target your recipients instead of just sending bunch of emails to all. You should focus on sending prospects which people actually open and read.

You should also focus more on the more profitable segments of the recipients and take care of the segment that was buying the most in the same period last year. Its very important that you understand seasonal buyers and that you create good propositions for them.

Wilsdon Lucy, Pure360′s Enterprise Head of Sales:

People do purchase a lot more in this time of year and we should take advantage of it. If not, our competition will do it instead.

Christmas is time for devoted campaigns. We can add the value to our products and we should also advertise why we are better than our competition, like return periods, customer service etc. This time of year is also great for collecting data from customers, which well use later for our advertising campaigns.

Kelleher Matthew, RedEyes Commercial Chief Officer:

Its advisable to increase the email frequency in this time of year and we do want to keep our consumers engaged. Even as we calculate about the number of emails we send in other periods of year, now we can relax and send as many as we want. Only thing thats important is to keep the content of our emails relevant and it should be sent with good timing.

If youre sending multiple campaigns, it is advisable that you put better offers in your later campaigns. The more campaigns you send, it will result in higher sales and you should get ready for higher and slower delivery as well.

You can also selectively create last day campaigns for ones that didnt purchase anything in the last 30 days.

You can track the recipients by opening emails, the ones that opened and didnt purchase etc. And you can also compare this years campaign with the last years one and see what you did right and wrong.

Whats the best Christmas design for email? Is it Santa with the snow?

Malm Parry:

You should know that only 15% of all recipients will open your email, so its more important to focus on what you write in the subject line. Pictures arent important at all.

Storey Philip:

You can be inspirational and try to seduce your recipients with the mail design. It might work for some brands, but it wont for all. Its more important to aggregate all youve learned in the past and to pour it in your Christmas campaign.

Wilsdon Lucy:

You should include the Santa, but be smart and dont send it to ones that dont celebrate Christmas. You can geo target your recipients and you can create a recognizable pattern for different countries in the world. Its time to enjoy your campaigns, cause Christmas is time for easy sales.

Kelleher Matthew:

Create a sense of urgency (last chance for delivery or selling out fast) with the subject lines and make sure the creative, is clear concise (mobile responsive) and directs users through to the right page (ideally dedicated Christmas landing pages).

You can put anything thats funny in your Christmas campaign. You can add videos, animated gifts, social interaction and all you can think of. Christmas is great time to bring your brand closer to your customers.

Is it important that we optimize the emails for mobiles in this time of year?

Malm Parry:

It hasnt been proven that a responsive design of an email will get bigger response from your recipients. We see many companies that are getting ready to invest big money into it in the 2014, but we dont expect it to be a big change.

Storey Philip:

The statistics shows that up to 60% of all mails are being opened on mobile phones. It is a big number and the optimization of emails is necessary.

The responsive design of your mail will assure that it will be properly displayed on the screen at the moment of its opening and therefore the optimization is highly important.

Wilsdon Lucy:

It has been proven that email conversions are higher on mobile devices than on desktop computers. Its not advisable that you send emails to your recipients and expect them to scroll left and right to see you message. You need to have optimized mails in order to avoid the possibility that your competition will beat you.
