Family adventure or an adrenaline junky? When you go Colorado white water rafting you are more than welcome to bring your family along. If you are looking for a little more adventure than a scenic, meandering ride down the river you might just choose a Kayak and some level five rapids. The choice is always up to you if you have the experience.
There are over twenty rivers you can choose from to go Colorado white water rafting. You have the Arkansas, with five different spots or you can take a meandering ride on the North Platte. It is best for you to choose a low level rapid when this is your first trip going Colorado white water rafting. It is also important when you have younger children to choose a run they will feel comfortable with. A level five rapid would not be wise for a child. Most companies will explain the type of runs they do and suggest a place for you to take younger children. There are some places that will tell you anyone under twelve cannot go on certain runs like a level five.
You will have a guide with you if you choose to go through a company, which is again recommended if you do not have a lot of experience. The raft usually seats eight depending on its size. There are footholds in the bottom to secure your feet so it is recommended that you wear shoes that won�t slip off your feet. If you are looking for a more scenic trip rather than an adrenaline rush the best place to go is the Royal Gorge. Not only are the rapids fun and exciting, but also the Royal Gorge is magnificent with its lush green trees and mountain scenery. There are some places on the Royal Gorge that are more difficult than others so you will need to talk with a local guide to find one of the scenic routes.
Colorado white water rafting on the North Platte came be pretty fun. There are two types of runs. The less experienced run and then the category four rapid. You can choose to start farther up the river for a longer day trip or you can have a couple hour ride. Depending on experience they may not take you over the rapid at the end of the run.
