Some of the most well-known musicians today have become household names because of their ability to play guitar. Slash, Synyster Gates, and Brad Paisley are all artists who play completely different styles of music but are very well known for their musical ability. Once you have learned to play guitar with guitar video lessons, it can be your ticket to fame or just a fun and engaging pastime.
One of the reasons that guitar video lessons are such an effective way to learn how to play is because guitars have a number of complicated fingerings to learn. There are obviously six strings on a basic guitar, but there are over 40,000 chords that can be created on them. Guitar video lessons can show you the major chords as well as standard variations on them. Most songs are based on only a few chords, so learning the most commonly used ones and how to create them can put you well on the path to guitar playing proficiency.
Another factor that plays into learning how to play the guitar is whether you are right- or left-handed. There is no shortage of guitar video lessons specifically for either left- or right-handed players, whereas it can be hard to find an instructor in your community who is left-handed. While most guitars are strung for right-handed players, there are a number of ways to play a guitar left-handed. Some models are made specifically to play by lefties. Otherwise, some southpaws, the legendary Jimi Hendrix included, re-string the guitar so that the strings are in the reverse order. Whatever you choose, you should be able to find guitar video lessons to cater to your preferred style of playing.
Perhaps the greatest advantage of guitar video lessons over lessons with a live tutor is that you can take your lessons any time that is convenient for you. You dont have to block out a few hours, drive to your instructor, wait on his or her previous pupil to get done, take your lesson, and then drive all the way back. Pre-recorded lessons are always ready and waiting any time you have a few moments to spare. One more benefit of this medium is that you can watch and rewatch your lesson to get your fingering and strumming just right. This can help you get the feel of the instrument even faster.
Guitar video lessons, whether online or on DVD, can help you learn to read chords at the same time. This is another advantage over traditional lessons. The video format can display the correct fingerings, strumming technique and written chords all at the same time. Once you have mastered basic chords and know how to locate them by yourself, you will be ready to add a few notes and play on your own. Most importantly, you will be much closer to entertaining your friends and family, writing original songs, or headlining your own show. Learning to play guitar can be a pathway to a new career for you, or just a way to chill and jam with some friends. Either way, youll never regret your decision to learn to play.
