Chicago Public schools are offering a new credit recovery summer school program that gives the high school students a chance to retake their course that they failed without having to retake the whole year again. The education system is realizing that students shouldnt have to waste their time and retake a course that they may have already known seventy percent of the material. What this new credit recovery online program does is test your knowledge the material and then focus on teaching the students what they didnt learn or understand correctly from the previous year. This way it allows students the ability to graduate, if a particular course stood in their way credit wise, or if a student want to avoid retaking the entire course when they know most of it already.
This is a great idea because it breaks down what the students already know and dont know and compiles the information to the teacher of the online course so that the teacher can focus on just that information that the students didnt get. Instead of retaking a course the whole next year or being held back, a student has the option of completing this online credit recovery program to get the credits they need to gradate or avoid retaking the entire year of the class. Technology is so amazing that it is able to help with our students education. The online testing tests a students knowledge of the previous years course and finds out exactly what areas or lesson plans that the student doesnt fully understand and designs the course around what the students need to learn to be able to move on to the next level of that subject.
This is very cost effective for the schools as well since the online recovery course costs less than the students having to retake a course for an entire year in school. Schools are all about cost effectiveness and usually with educational technology the cost is so great that many schools cannot make the reforms needed to fully be able to teach the 21swt century student. By creating this online program, not only does it save the school money but also it makes it easier for the student to get the credits they need to graduate. A happier student makes happier parents and better school ratings. When a school offers such great options for the student to help their students to get the credits they need it makes the school a popular choice for parents.
Just knowing that a school is constantly creating new programs and trying to improve current programs is enough for parents to want their kids to attend that school. We all know that the education system has been lacking in the past, as it is not keeping up with the times technology wise. It is expensive to completely reform a school and make it current with the 21st century since the technology changes so frequently and update constantly, but as schools integrate a little more technology little by little, the schools will start to see an increase in their positive school ratings.
