For many years when it came to lighting one's home you would have only the choice of using incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs to do so. However there have many dramatic changes taking place and today there is another way that lighting a home or business can be achieved. Today one can use LED bulbs.
The first time that light emitting diodes were being used was in fact in some of the first digital watches to appear on the market. However the problem with this form of LED was not only did it emit very little light but also color it emitted was very limited so, of course wasn't at all suitable for use in the home.
However as you will soon discover the LED bulbs that you can purchase have come a long way in the last few years. The ones that you can purchase today are more than capable of producing bright natural spectrum white light. The light that they do emit is strong enough to be able to illuminate a pretty good size area with just the use of one bulb only.
Okay you may consider the cost of investing in such bulbs a little high but you will be amazed at the savings you will make in the future. When it comes to these types of bulbs they have the ability to provide between 50 and 60,000 hours of light where as a conventional incandescent bulb can only do so for between 750 and 1,000 hours. Just thing how much money you will end up saving because you will find that you aren't having to replace bulbs so often.
Also another thing that will have you wanting to purchase even just one LED lighting bulb for your home is how much it can reduce the amount you spend each year on electricity. When it comes to conventional light bulbs in order for a bulb to produce around 900 lumens it will need to use 60 watts of power to provide the energy to heat the filament or tube within it. However, when it comes to the LED bulbs available these only need to use 2 watts of power. So you will find that over an 18 month period such bulbs could end up saving you as much as $350 in electricity usage.
Even though light emitting diode bulbs use less energy to power them they actually do produce a great deal more natural light than a conventional style incandescent bulb does. Also you will see that LED bulbs produce a much whiter kind of light where as the type of light emitted by a normal light bulb tends to have a yellowish tinge. So of course you will find that when sat beside one reading the words on the page are much clearer.
However there is one final thing that you should take into consideration when it comes to considering installing LED light bulbs in your home. These are actually much safer than other forms of bulbs including fluorescent ones, which contain mercury and should they break can prove dangerous to one's health when trying to clean up the mess they create.
